Been busy today, 2nd cutscene had some extensive work done on it and now it plays from start to end. WIP as things are teleporting, the timings of a lot of animations are off, and art is not final but proud of the work so far!

Today was a good code clean up day, and instead of 2 weeks between updates it was 13 days which is impressive.

Went from Silksong obsession straight into Pokemon obsession. Back to working on VnH though! The comic cutscene I was working on is all in and can be played through but still need to do a lot of camera work to make it look right.

Back from Silksong jail (damn what a good game)

Currently sketching out the other early comic style cutscene tonight, will try and get it implemented in game this weekend. It's all temp art for now but it feels good to get it in.

Love a good inciting event!

And as a note, will basically keep journaling work until I reach a certain point I already know, and then after that, it will be more heads down while working on a demo.

I hope it is interesting to see progress on a game like this.

Decided to touch up the main character's sprite since I kept thinking "wait how does his hair actually work". The mask design came first so it's been working backwards from there.

Also since I don't think I've ever said it, meet Zero, the protagonist of VnH.

Working on tile sets and testing details for the environment. Having fun drawing and making assets, especially when I end up liking how it looks.

Was actually able to pull myself away from Silksong in order to work a bit. Updated the tilemap for the starting location to have better tiling and a more pleasing color palette. Also updated the fountain in the center but still WIP.

And here is just the comic cut in! Was inspired by one night booting up Phantasy Star IV on the Genesis and being incredibly impressed with how it would present picture panels during scenes. Felt like a good fit for a super hero rpg!

A lot of temp art, but first cutscene is basically done! When playing VnH I want there to be some comic panel cut ins and getting that working here felt so good. You will be calling Bo a lot to save so I hope you end up liking him!

Oh man that's the beginning of a cut scene baby. Tools are starting to come together.

Excuse all the temp assets and obviously mismatched character portrait, but man is it satisfying to build something and see it work. Highly recommend making a game!

Working on sprite for the very first scene in the game since I'm focused on building out that and the tools to make it work. Satisfied with how it ended up, though can't wait to to get to the point where the protagonist is in proper super hero costume.

Really good progress today! Been continuing working on improving dialogue/cut scene work and now have the character portraits easily changing, voice blips on every word, and it being relatively easy to change out. Also the voice blip was fun to make!
