Hi Im a 3d artist who does a whole bunch of different things. I like #gameart the most and sometimes dabble (pretend) with tech art. Also working on my own game and sometimes the stuff I post is about that. Love everything from realistic to stylized.

ID was the largest studio I know of that made major use of Modo and from what I understand they were still using it very heavily all the way to Doom Dark Ages. Are they still using it though I wonder after Foundry killed it? Id love to know.

secured a switch 2 for the kids Christmas present. Almost went with a 2nd steam deck but i have a documented weakness to Kirby and Zelda.

I straight up forgot i harvested all my garden lemon balm a month or so ago and it all got mold. Was going to make loads of lemon balm pesto and I got a craving for it on gnocchi and now I’m sad about my moldy herbs.

I started editing and colour correcting porn at a porn studio- then colour on films / ads then vfx for everything for about 5 years then games for the last 9 years.

it looks so simple but i had to refactor so many systems and even create an entire entity hierarchy to make it so you can mouse over, click, and pick back up crafting components from a crafting station like this

glad it's done though

2 more recruiters on linked in today for this. I asked if they were after AE or Nuke people - or look dev and lighting and they said they dont know- but they have to fill 300 artist positions a week for 3 month contracts? I assume to train AI.
Who else has been contacted about this Meta VFX thing? 4 different recruiters / all for the same (3000?!?) jobs at meta but none of them are consistent with what they need. Vfx? Rendering? Look dev? Comp? Unreal? Vr? After effects? Nuke? Houdini? C4d? What’s going on over there lol.

Ok so Ive been really busy with contract work which is amazing - but tonight I found a bit of time to work on my game and i chose to spend it trying to dial in the night part of my day / night cycle. Also made some foliage shader edits that saved me .5-.8ms on my frame times.

The wireframe on this model I made is absolute chaos and looks horrendous but the shading is good and honestly sometimes with the timelines that makes it 100% right but I would die if someone say this wire frame lmao

Any UE heads might have any insight into why a level instance that contains lighting will show its children when nested in a main level- but then in play mode or going into the level instance it shows nothing at all then deletes its contents?
