Fuck it. I’m just going to take the videos & graphics that show what our politicians say and explain how id use them with elementary kids to teach media literacy, emotional literacy, and critical thinking. Use it as you like — or not.
Sometimes you can’t protect people from their bad decisions. Other times, you shouldn’t. Sometimes people have to live and learn and deal with the consequences of their shitty choices.

Important update. SNAP is FULLY FUNDED in Connecticut as of today. The state has given assurance that it will backstop payment should the Trump administration persist in its callous effort to starve American families for political leverage.

As a former elementary educator, I may have broken down complex concepts so that young children could understand them, but always spoke to them as if they’re intelligent and capable of learning hard things while expanding their vocabulary.
Here's another bit of conventional wisdom Zohran completely blew away: His speech was at well above a 10th-grade level. It was complex, erudite, punctuated by deep and fluent references. You don't have to condescend to voters with baby talk! Part of re-establishing norms is speaking like an adult.

As of right now, it looks like my sleepy little town in sleepy CT had quite the blue wave. FWIW, I consider my town to be a Christian and conservative town. Dominated by the good ‘ol boys and girls with name recognition. And dare I say it, big money.

I live in a sleepy town in sleepy CT, and I can tell you that I’ve never seen a more pissed off electorate motivated to vote. People who don’t give 2 effs about voting in off year elections have already voted or are voting today.

Logged in to Facebook yesterday to post a cat we need to re-home. Not even 24 hours later, I was quickly reminded why I loathe that platform. Between the incessant BS notifications, and the straight out inhumanity of the people who post and comment it’s a cesspool.

This is a good clip to use during a social studies unit or even as a launch point to talk about how students treat each other. Have an open and honest conversation about what they think about this statement. And then use that information to drive the texts you read and the skills you teach.
