I once worked for a USN captain who often referred to the Pentagon as Fort Fumble. That certainly is an apt description of the Defense Dept today under SecDef Hegseth. He is totally unfit and should never have been confirmed. The responsibility for Hegseth's appointment is Trump's and the Senate's.

Alex Wagner (MS Now), in a discussion about the ongoing immigration issues, described the Trump administration's policy as "ethnic cleansing." I think she is right. Trump wants only white males, but he will tolerate white women, as long as they are subservient and obedient. No one else is welcome.

An MS-NOW reporter just referred to Trump is as the "commander-in-chief of America." It is very important to note that POTUS is commander-in-chief of THE ARMED FORCES, not of the entire nation. That is an important distinction. This country does not need a commander-in-chief.

Hegseth is now talking about the "fog of war" with regard to the Caribbean boat incident. The only fog that worries me is the fog between Hegseth's ears.

BBC is quoting Trump as saying he doesn't want Somalis in this country. That might be his opinion, but many of us don't put much confidence in his opinion. In my opinion, I don't want the Trump family or their followers in this country.

Hegseth has frequently been the subject of news articles recently. Those news articles usually have not been complimentary. I wonder how long it will take for the White House to realize that Hegseth is a P.R. disaster.

The election of Donald Trump, with all his baggage, clearly shows that critical thinking skills are not common in the electorate. Some "man in the street" interviews show astonishing stupidity ("how many dimes in a dollar" got no answer at all). Our primary and secondary education system has failed.

As a retired USN officer, my loyalties are to the Constitution and the oath I took 69 years ago. With regard to the matter involving Sen. Kelly, the senator was exactly right and, in any case, he was repeating what the military has been teaching for many years.

In a normal world, when an esteemed member of a group is falsely accused, other members come to his or her defense. But when Sen. Mark Kelly, a member of the Senate, is not only falsely accused, but threatened with hanging, other members of the Senate are quiet. That's called moral cowardice.
