Today, we inaugurated an administration that is both implicated in and indifferent to sexual abuse. As I am a childhood sexual abuse survivor, this lands hard. I doubt I’m alone.

I wrote two symphonies to help myself and others heal. I’m sharing them today. evanware.bandcamp.com/album/evan-w...

There’s a post formulation going around wherein you introduce yourself through concerts you’ve seen multiple times (either artists or pieces) and I realized that I really don’t connect to music this way at all. I seem to almost exclusively go to concerts with music I don’t know. 🤷‍♂️

Journalist challenge: Use “Machine Learning” when you mean machine learning and “LLM” when you mean LLM. Ditch “AI” as a catch-all term, it’s not useful for readers and it helps companies trying to confuse the public by obscuring the roles played by different technologies. 🧪

As travelers head to the airports this holiday season, the U.S. government wants them to rethink their travel checklists, their behavior — and also, their outfits. It's a part of a new campaign by Sean Duffy, the secretary of transportation, that he called “The Golden Age of Travel Starts With You.”

I am so excited for this album to arrive! I mentioned it in, and interviewed Dr. Ege and Dr. Broad for, this NPR piece on Samuel Coleridge-Taylor's 150th anniversary back in August

Congratulations to @jkaconductor.bsky.social, @leahbroad.bsky.social, and Samantha Ege!

For my musicologist friends, please read and consider signing. Our scholarly societies work only when they are member-driven and accountable to that membership. If I had ever been a member of AMS, I would sign in a New York minute.
I urge all of you, friends & colleagues, to please consider signing this petition to restore transparent governance and accountability in the AMS -- with this action, we can make our voices heard & remind everyone of our mission as a member-led society docs.google.com/document/d/1...
