I get really excited every time I start an NTS radio program and it turns out that's just their audio tag and the program is even better.

I wish there was a Steve Carrell movie that could help me understand our current economic situation.
NY FED: The rejection rate for all types of credit (auto loan, credit card, credit card limit increase, mortgage, mortgage refinance) over past 12 months rose to a series high of 24.8% in October.

probably a metaphor for our larger economy. but let's ignore it and keep going...
The company essentially turned a dial that made ChatGPT more appealing and made people use it more, but sent some of them into delusional spirals.

OpenAI has since made the chatbot safer, but that comes with a tradeoff: less usage.

I watched the Ti West/Mia Goth "X, Pearl, Maxxxine" trilogy over the last few weeks and this first quarter is easily the best horror film I've seen in awhile.
let's check in on how Syracuse is doing

The Citizens United case has done so much damage to our country.
We spent a year investigating billionaires for @washingtonpost.com.

We found: the wealthiest 100 Americans gave $1.1 billion to influence the 2024 elections — 140x more than they did in 2000. And almost all of that giving boosted Republicans.

Doubling the no-input mixer with the cello, just like it says in Walt Piston's Guide to Orchestration.

Should we use this opportunity (like we also should have a couple of weeks ago when AWS went down) to talk about how corporations have privatized the roads and highways of the internet, when in reality we should think of them as public goods, like our actual roads?

Or nah?

Society for New Music in Syracuse, NY performed two movements from my chamber piece, "Sonic Abstractions". If you're interested in dark, glitchy electronics and moody vibes, give it a listen.

This is what I emphasize most in lessons with my students. Write bad music. A lot of it. Keep the 30 seconds that doesn't suck. Then do it again.

I wish we had a political party in America capable of making this argument.
Important to understand the Epstein stuff and the fascism and the corruption are, in a lot of ways, really all the same story from different angles: powerful men who can and do abuse vulnerable people around them because they can, and because systems of elite accountability catastrophically failed

The Republican health care plan is about as real as the tooth fairy, so I won't hold my breath.

I think Senate folders are significantly underestimating how fucking angry Democratic voters are at them

NEW: The Trump admin told states it must immediately "undo" the work to provide full food stamp benefits, or face penalties. The feds sent this in a late-night memo, only adding to the chaos and confusion around SNAP. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/09/b...
