Fun Fact: Did you know there are over 40 new GO Transit Stations proposed across the network? Once completed, the General Toronto & Hamilton Area will have over 110 GO Stations, and potentially up to 11 regional rail lines.
Today Mount Dennis GO Station opened, with trains between Downtown Toronto, Brampton-Kitchener and Pearson Airport on average every 10 minutes.

This is one of many regional rail stations coming to the City of Toronto over the next decade, as GO Transit continues to expand.

Mount Dennis GO Station opens for service tomorrow! A new hub for regional rail, light rail, and local buses in Toronto.

This is the 71st GO Transit station, first to open on the Kitchener Line since 2013, and the first station added to the UP Express since its opening in 2015

More details on the modified St. Clair-Old Weston Station have been released

Part of the platform will be used by the
UP Express, longer 4 to 5 car trains will be able to stop here.

The rest will remain unused. In the future, this station may be a stop on the GO Transit Kitchener Line

Did You Know: There was going to be a third new line included in the GO 2.0 transit plan announced earlier this year?

The cancelled Lakeshore-Midtown Line would have travelled from Oakville, through Mississauga, Midtown Toronto, and Scarborough, before terminating in Oshawa.

The planned St. Clair-Old Weston Station has been significantly changed

According to documents from the City of Toronto and Metrolinx, this station will now only be a stop on the UP Express Line.

Previously, it was planned as a stop on both UP Express and the GO Transit Kitchener Line.

Today Metrolinx updated the GO Transit regional rail system maps

These updated maps now display TTC rapid transit lines & connections.

In the future, the TTC should add GO Transit lines to the subway system map, so all maps in our region show an integrated transit network.

Confederation GO Station opens for service tomorrow! A new hub for regional rail, regional buses, and local buses in east Hamilton.

This is the 70th GO Transit station, first to open since 2021, and the first Lakeshore West Line station to open since 2015.

This morning the Government of Ontario announced significant service increases to the GO Transit Kitchener Line, starting November 23rd:

• Weekend service to Kitchener GO

• 30 minute weekend service between Union Station & Bramalea GO

• New infrastructure partnership with CN Rail

Fun Fact: Ever heard of the GO Transit Hamilton-Guelph Line? This line was proposed in 1989 by the Think Rail Group, as part of a larger proposal for transit in Ontario.

This line would've travelled from the City of Hamilton to Guelph, linking 3 cities together in the western half of the GTHA.

Fun Fact: Ever heard of the GO Transit Brantford-London Line? This line was proposed in 1989 by the Think Rail Group, as apart of a larger proposal for transit expansions in Ontario.

This line would have travelled from the City of Toronto to London, along Lake Ontario and through Brantford.

This extension was proposed in 2021 by the Toronto Region Board of Trade, in a business case outlining potential improvements and expansions to the GO Transit network

The platforms between York Street and Bay Street will see massive changes in the future.

Going off multiple public sources, most platforms will be combined and widened, and at least 17 new staircases and elevators will be added to improve passenger flow and accessibility.

Network status info screens for all regional rail, subway, and light rail lines is great to see!

As transit continues to improve in our region, people will take more complex trips across multiple modes, so an information hub like this is important

Additionally, the Barrie was to also be rerouted out of Union Station to instead terminate at the new underground station in the vicinity of Union.

Both lines being rerouted would have alleviated crowding and provided more capacity for other rail services at Union Station.

Fun Fact: Did you know in 2012 Metrolinx proposed a reroute of the GO Transit Georgetown Line?

The proposed reroute would have taken the Georgetown Line out of Union Station, instead terminating at a new underground station in the vicinity of Union.

As GO Transit renovates stations and shifts to shorter trains, train length information becomes more important.

Recently, more renderings of the new Exhibition GO Station/TTC Ontario Line terminal have been posted to UrbanToronto.

Exhibition will be one of the largest stations in the Toronto Area, and will be able to take on all current and future crowds headed to destinations at The Exhibition Grounds:

Today the Government of Ontario announced their commitment to build Woodbine GO Station.

This station will be located on the Kitchener Line between Malton and Etobicoke North GO Station.

Once Woodbine opens, Etobicoke North GO Station will permanently close.

Over the next 2 years, the City of Toronto will begin the Great Hall Chandelier and Cove Lighting Program.

This project includes 3 new LED chandeliers, which will better illuminate the hall below, and new cove lighting, which will brighten the historical elements around the hall.
