Luddite Exploring His Territory with a Baseball Bat.
For our latest After Action Report we take an even DEEPER dive into why anyone in their right mind thought it was a good idea to remake NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1968). For while the reasoning and intentions were noble the end result was a bit of a mess.

A visual feast, arresting performances all around. Harrowing, heartbreaking and laugh out loud funny in spots. If you have a chance, definitely see it on a big screen. Did my grinchy cinematic heart a lot of good to see it in a packed theater when the film was already streaming on Netflix.

We detour from film to pulp with a book I've been wanting to read even though I bought and read it some 25 years ago (-- I'll explain this, trust me.) Thus, we take a look at John Russo's RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD. No. Not THAT one. The OTHER one.

Our latest rehash sees a tale of biblical proportions. A familiar story for those who remember their Sunday School lessons -- that is, until the dinosaurs and cannibals show up.

So, the scene at Doc Hallen's in THE BLOB '58. Hallen orders Nurse Kate to stay while going for a gun. But it's already too late; she's been consumed like the old man / patient zero. And when the Blob rolls into view, I kinda like to think those darker crimson streaks are what's left of Nurse Kate.

Alas Not >Quite< Hubrisween '25 comes to an end with a Kitchen-Sink After-Action Report on an underappreciated proto-slasher with a righteous gothic twist that's carried by a fresh face final girl, a wily veteran as the baddie, and a 5-car twist pile-up.

It wouldn't be Hubrisween without a cryptid entry. This time, the Loch Ness Monster. Unfortunately, that means we have to once more venture into the pure tedium of Larry Buchanan and his attempt to recapture the cheapjack glory of his Azalea days.

Today's Not >Quite< Hubrisween entry proves once again that Made for TV Movies of the 1970s were of a different breed. I mean, where else are you gonna find ancient elder gods running loose on a 747? And so, come fly the Unfriendly Skies as we all face...

In our latest entry for Not >Quite< Hubrisween, we take a look at a film that's been justly branded as one of the worst of all time. And I am not here to dispute that because it is. But when you dig into the backstory, you can kinda see why it went awry.

Before I forget to mention it, do yourself a favor and catch NOBODY 2 (2025) on the big screen before it disappears. For a guy who >technically< died a couple years ago, Odenkirk can sure open up a can of pure whup-ass. And Sharon Stone's take on the villain? That was a choice that I am here for. 1/
