I have concluded, after learning about the history of the social safety net in the US, that the reason Republicans in Congress are doing zero zilch nada to stop Trump is bc he is accomplishing their longstanding dream of diverting all public monies into private profits.
I don’t know about the other places but I know Gluesenkamp Perez squeaked out a win over Joe Kent, a Trumper who would be infinitely worse. Until the right wing disinformation advantage is addressed, it’s going to be v hard for Dems to win in places where people can’t easily get accurate info.
Unfortunately, there’s never been a better time in history for doltish grifters.
I value your voice, @walshfreedom.bsky.social but you are mistaken about what Dems supposedly focus on. Dems fight an uphill battle every day against RW misinformation and disinformation and this is the biggest problem facing both Dems and the country.
The full quote as it should have been imo: “As is typical for Mr. Trump, he has identified a real problem” along with 99 similarly oversimplified, misleading, or outright fake problems he has made up, all of which we, the credulous press, take seriously to avoid being called nasty, biased, or fake.
I like his point about anti-woke being anti-Black but at this point it seems ridiculous to say it’s not about Democrats and Republicans when Republicans are very much enabling all of it.

Political #corruption made Americans in the 1800s distrust social programs, a prob that continues today, when wealth inequality has grown to Gilded Age (1870-1910) levels. This is the time Trump wants to take us back to. #Dems in ofc should be loudly anti-corruption, pro social programs.
I don’t know if this is true but I heard Grover drowned in a bathtub?

This experiment is very revealing about the antisocial effects of money.

Hmmm…I’ll have to check those out….
I hope so. My husband likes to say I unravel more than I knit.
“As the Kaiser Family Foundation notes, Go Fund Me campaigns soliciting donations to pay for obscenely high medical bills are becoming more and more common in the United States. This is a moral failure.” 🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯
Starting my most ambitious project: a wool vest. 😬 I anticipate it will be ready for winter … 2029.

its remarkable to see random suburbanites in their fucking PJs have more courage than the vast majority of america's political, social, and civil elites
More from the scene
@therickwilson.bsky.social is a brilliant writer and this piece is an elegy for what we have lost. How now do we recover and rebuild when the GOP is complicit/fascist and the Supreme Court and states like NC and TX are trying to make it impossible for Democrats to win elections ever again?
This is the best story I've read on these here internets all week.
Thank you, Marc! I’m reading about Rucho v. Common Cause for a class and am filled with rage!!!
How do you know I don’t follow Democrats?
Wouldn’t the stock market work the same way it did BEFORE there were billionaires? Wasn’t Rockefeller (or Ford) the first?
This is what I’ve been faulting Dems for, for years. Stop FOLLOWING polls and LEAD. People will have more respect for them, and if people don’t, they wouldn’t have either way.
Yes! That’s the perfect description! I’m glad too and hope you have a similar experience. I was desperate when I started eliminating things and hoped it would help but had no idea whether it would. I feel very lucky it eventually did, and am amazed at the body’s capacity for healing.
Are you feeling better bc you’ve figured out how to avoid many problematic things but now feel well enough that you notice new problematic things? That’s what happened for me. But with time I have become able to tolerate small amts of things I couldn’t tolerate 10 yrs ago.
