"Pluralism is a key, a vital, part of these United States. Antioch and Cedarville, within shouting distance of each other. That's America." A journal, for your enjoyment.

"Breathless" might be the one Goddard I found watchable, even funny when he stopped for a female hitchhiker, but ix-nayed that when he decided she wasn't good looking.
Henry James would like a word with you...
I'm jealous of the late Nat Hentoff, can only imagine how great his jazz collection was! I used to work as a freelance illustrator. One client was the Village Vice [sic]. On occasion, I used the opportunity, when dropping off a job, to pop my head in the door of his office to ask a jazz question.
From East Germany, with love, in 1968...
My first LP? Autumn of 1964, "House of the Rising Sun." Then, for Christmas, "Surfer Girl." Early 1965 saw the first two Kinks, Beatles, etc. "Getz/Gilberto," "Highway 61." Classical, more jazz... 'Twas a time, chirren.

PS: Still got 'em! In clean condition! I take care of my stuff.
Happy owner of the box LP set of "Alive and Well" here!

As you may know, Bowie was a Brel fan, recorded at least one Brel song.
When playing an LP, do you begin with Side 1, then after it has reached its proper conclusion, proceed to Side 2? If so, you may be a conservative.

PS: If you're playing 78s, Side 1 to Side 2, you are, almost certainly, a reactionary, or at least a Ralph de Toledanoite.
No more the days of Ricky and Fred gathered around a TV set to watch the fights. (BTW, "Ricky and Fred" is Boomer lingo, designed to keep you whippersnappers in the dark.)
If Kenton, Bartok and Monk were seamlessly melded, with a dash of Satie and a dot of Feldman, for a French noir set north of the sun, west of the moon, it would approximate Ran Blake. #RanBlake
