I think a big fandom shift in interacting with stuff has gone from people commenting under the created thing whether it be fic or art to people linking it in private discord groups where the person who made it will never see any positive comments left on the thing they made.

One of the things I like about Stranger Things is how everyone is brought in on the threat/secret. What happens is impossible to contain, and making some characters glossed over on the obvious feels so insincere. Giving them all a stake brings a sense of unity to the story.
