I think I know what you mean. This didn't exist and it's made of a bunch of different sounds and it's synced to an animation and has to sound good in a 3D space. Took hours and I'm probably still going to change it.

I think we're biased against what we produce because we know the "tricks" behind it, but to the casual player it's all good unless it sounds too out of place... so I'm trying to not torture myself too much

Honestly I'm not even sure the "after" is gonna sound good either, I have almost no experience in this area. But what I mean is trying to make the sound effects "harmonize" with each other and with the music, so none of them feel too jarring or out of place

I gotta stop treating audio as an afterthought. It's never as simple as playing a few notes on a keyboard or downloading a SFX pack and dropping it in the project, it's a lot of trial and error #gamedev #indiedev #solodev

Downloaded Godot 4.5 and updated my project. It automatically fixed an annoying visual bug that I've been meaning to fix for weeks now. I don't know why or how that happened, I'm just happy it did. Thank you Godot 4.5!

The original plan was to make Graveyard Bash a casual experience, but I started feeling it was way too low-stakes even for a casual game, so now I'm adding hazards - they work like normal pieces, but have negative special effects and show up at random #gamedev #indiedev #solodev #godot #mobilegaming

My favorite thing about Blender is that it's really easy to make a render look cinematic with little tweaks to the default materials and lights. With Cinema 4D everything looked so bland out of the box, it required a lot more effort to make decent renders #blender #b3d #3d

If I remember right, it started dropping frames well after reaching 50 enemies on the screen, but those enemies are really basic (just follow player in straight line and attack when at a certain distance)

The only time I "used" AI in gamedev was when I made the mistake of reading Google's AI overview while troubleshooting. It mentioned a built-in function that did exactly what I was looking for... But that function didn't actually exist. Even the cited source made no mention of it.

I was finally convinced by a dev friend to try some AI code tool, despite me being generally skeptical to them. I asked it to optimize some code and explain the performance gains. It did seem to make some useful edits, but then fixed a non-existant bug (afaik) and said the performance gain was "∞%".
