At last, today is the day. I am immensely proud to announce that JavaScript for Everyone is here.

Tell a friend, tell a Slack channel — write it on a slip of paper, fold it once, and slide it across your boss' desk without breaking eye contact. _It's time to get weird._

A really common user interface pattern is a big clickable area, such as a card. Sometimes you need controls within that card that are also clickable. There's lots of ways to do it wrong, but fret not, @ericwbailey.website is here to show you how to do it right.

A team of scientists with ten uninterrupted years couldn’t come up with something more viscerally satisfying than slowly walking past a Cybertruck stuck in traffic while doing a full-eye-contact jerk-off motion at the waxy old driver, who looks more like a thumb hit with a hammer by the second.

Temporal shipped in Chrome 144 yesterday, so only Safari remains.

Here’s @wil.to explaining why it’s better piccalil.li/blog/date-is...
Date is out, Temporal is in
Temporal is the Date system we always wanted in JavaScript. It's extremely close to being available so Mat Marquis thought it would be a good idea to explain exactly what is better about this new Java...

All I’d be qualified to write is Partly-Correct Basic Conversational American Sign Language for Everyone, which would take the form of:

> Okay. So, lift your hand up, and— sorry, no, other hand. Yeah. Now, shape your hand like the thing surfers do in movies from the 90s. Now..."

The best time to replace Date would’ve been back in 1995 but the second best time is Temporal.Now.

@piccalil.li writing at its best.

Ah, I bet that's because I’m Hacking the Gibson™ to lift the signup form from piccalil.li/javascript-f... on my site. I’ll get that sorted, but that link should get the same job done in the meantime. Appreciate it!

Gonna be real thrilled when I no longer have to import moment or luxon just to deal with time in JavaScript.

Time and credit card info, two things I really want to leave to somebody else.

Once again they SHOULD NOT be allowing me to cook.

Around the thirty- or fourtieth time I heard a podcast ad for a “digitial photo frame” over the holidays, I decided to rig up a cheapo display to a Raspberry Pi that mounts a directory on my NAS and cycles through any images it finds in there. “Shitpost robot” is a working title.

Friendly reminder to use aria-label as a last resort. Use a visual label if you can! And if you need to use an aria-label to add supplementary text to already visual text, make sure the full visual text is included in the aria-label, at the start of the string.
