Axolotls are the new animal of fashion, up there in the pantheon with the unicorn, the llama, the narwhal and the capybara. But even as the Mexican salamander’s popularity means they are everywhere, the species is under increasing threat in its native habitat. www.theguardian.com/environment/...
‘Every time I look at one, I smile!’: how axolotls took over the world
Our passion for these cute-looking salamanders means they are everywhere – except in the wild, where the species is under increasing threat

I want to show solidarity for the nationwide strike Friday, so I won’t buy anything. But my job is at a small nonprofit fighting against the unnecessary animal suffering and env. harm caused by modern society. Not working seems like the wrong thing to do.

We are not the first people, or the first country, to suffer under a tyrannical government that does not respect our lives, or our rights.

There is a method for how to effectively resist, and eventually topple, such a regime. We can learn from others who came before us.

This is my favorite guide.

It’s hard not to be crushed by the weight of human suffering that a large percentage of my country voted for. Like, as a collective, everyone in our society is to some degree culpable for allowing it to get to this point. It infuriates me.

This is wrong. We have criminals in charge of our country and controlling our military. Heinous, bloodthirsty, despicable. We have to stop this.

At least 40 people were killed in the US attack on Venezuela, including military personnel and civilians.

In an era when many species are declining because of multi-pronged, seemingly intractable problems, the solution to protecting common loons is relatively straightforward. So why are these beloved birds still dying?
Why Are Loons Still Dying from Lead Poisoning?
In the United States, efforts to save a beloved species face pushback from a surprising foe: gun rights advocates.

Wildlife rehabbers fly high when we release animals, but we witness so much suffering too. Massive workloads, financial struggles, and societal inertia can be stressful & demoralizing too. This month's free #wildliferehab seminar is all about staying healthy and resilient for our important work.

Did you know that not all scientific evidence has the same weight?

The more the study relies on an expert's opinion, rather than many data points and peer-review, the higher the risk of bias.

Tomorrow I’m participating in a charity walk for the IWRC. If you’re seeing this please consider giving, even $5. Wildlife is constantly hurt by people. They are hit by cars, run into windows, killed by our pets, kidnapped; some are hurt on purpose. Help mitigate these harms. tinyurl.com/4xvkymw3
