ICE is terrorizing our communities, including here in Western New York. A strategy adapted from activists in Chicago is to wear and use whistles to alert the community to the presence of ICE. This free zine provides some guidance for your community support work.

Doing our library’s Tech Help Drop-in again, and just helped an 83 year-old learn how to arrange apps on her iPhone and she was so appreciative and couldn't believe she didn’t have to pay. 🥹😭

Just finished Brigands & Breadknives by @travisbaldree.bsky.social and LOVED IT! 🥹😭

As a librarian, especially this: “…books are a weapon against loneliness. Putting them in the right hands lets people see one an-other. It makes us ... better to one another. I think that's a worthy thing to do."

How’s my holiday vacation going? Almost drove an ATV off a large bluff in Grand Turk. Thankfully, “All Terrain” excludes dense thickets of shrubs.

Beckyyyyy! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I’ve been reading — and selecting and suggesting — more horror because of you @raforall.bsky.social. Congratulations!
Chicagoan of the Year in Books: If you’re into horror, thank the librarian Becky Spratford
She’s the unassuming champion behind the rise in horror lit. “To me, Becky is the spark plug, lynchpin, head coach and fairy godmother of horror,” says author Daniel Kraus.

My #LibFaves25 Day 8 pick is THE MASK OF FEAR by Alexander Freed. This Star Wars novel takes place just after the rise of the Empire, and follows early resistance to Palpatine's new regime. Dense with political intrigue, but not without thrilling adventure!

My Day 5 #LibFaves25 pick is DEATH OF THE AUTHOR by Nnedi Okorafor!

An intriguing story within a story with both literary and SciFi elements. It was my first read of 2025, and a great start to the year! (Enjoyed it on a cruise back in January.)

THE EMPEROR OF GLADNESS by Ocean Vuong is my #LibFaves25 Day 3 pick. A gorgeously written novel about finding chosen family and surviving on the fringes of society. Ugh, this one will stay with me.

All of this, literally over one LGBTQ+ children's picture book. ONE. PICTURE. BOOK.

They dismantled the fucking public library for the whole county. They hate gay people this much.

If you have a library that functions, get in their inboxes or meetings now to tell them that they're great.

My Day 3 #LibFaves25 pick is YOU WEREN’T MEANT TO BE HUMAN by Andrew Joseph White. Probably the one of the most disturbing books I’ve ever read, and. I. Loved. It.

Keeping with yesterday’s Italian theme, my #LibFaves25 Day 2 pick is IT HAD TO BE HIM by Adib Khorram!

After years apart, two high school friends reconnect by happenstance in Italy and fall fast for each other. A fun, spicy second chance romance that has me looking forward to a trip to Italy!

Can’t believe it’s #LibFaves25 time already! My first pick is THE AMALFI CURSE by Sarah Penner. Sea witches, ship wrecks, a treasure hunt, and a little Italian romance — this one was so much fun!
