In the midst of all of this crap news, I’d like to remind y’all that I had a cameo in one of Dav Pilkey’s comics, about a year ago. It’s about my work on Fredric Wertham. Check out some of the images!

I appreciate having my work cited in academic pubs, but this citation is priceless. 📚 #libcomix

If you can understand the logic of driving a friend to the airport, you can understand the logic of blowing a whistle and trying to prevent government agents from kidnapping someone. We just want to take care of each other, it's not that fucking difficult to understand.

Remember that one time when a court ordered ICE to stop doing this and people were like "see the system is working calm down" and then ICE ignored them completely and kept doing the same shit

www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/1/...
This is what happened in our neighborhood yesterday. ICE snatched a human being off of our streets, roughed them up badly, and then pepper sprayed legal observers as they documented it all. This is a daily occurrence happening all throughout Minnesota right now.

Anne Applebaum: "Donald Trump now genuinely lives in a different reality, one in which neither grammar nor history nor the normal rules of human interaction now affect him. Also, he really is maniacally, unhealthily obsessive about the Nobel Prize." I fully subscribe to this analysis.

Need to be inspired today? Give this a watch.

I recently learned about House on Garling in Bloomington-Normal and then came across this lovely new doc. It shares how Daniel Pinkwater’s The Big Orange Splot served as a spur in building community and creating healing.

Today, millions will reflect on the brief life and complicated legacy of MLK. Many will claim their politics are reflected in his mirror. Regardless of ideology, the vast majority will be wrong.

He wasn’t elected, didn’t wait on leaders, and didn’t mistake outrage for action.

He did the work.

The partial list I saw last week was bad, but oh, it's even worse than imagined.
Urgent call to action, Texans: we need to write to our State Board of Education members and tell them NOT to adopt the proposed required reading list they’re considering at the the end of the month. It is BAD. I wrote about why here: franklinstrong.substack.com/p/call-to-ac...

We need your help to stop it.

If you live in the Cities, an easy way to help immigrant families in hiding is: laundry! Laundromats are ICE magnets, so people without washers need help.

The People’s Laundry will drop off laundry to your door to wash and dry and pick up a few days later:

Goodnight, friends.

It's been a tough year already, and we're less than 3 weeks into it.

Breathe. Ask for help if you need it. Stop doomscrolling. Drink some water. Call a friend. Sing loudly. Rest. Give help as you're able.

We are all we have.

I love you.

It's not just the St. Paul Doubletree.
The Intercontinental in downtown St Paul is also shutting for now.
According to the Pioneer Press, they're both operated by an indigenous tribe, the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe.

FYI, ICE has been arresting Native Americans.

Oh man. It would be terrible if people started following Bovino around and playing Baby Shark. It would be terrible because he would hate it, and it would probably become his theme song, and it would make his Nazi in a long coat cosplay all the more ridiculous.

So no one should do that.

To ban speech, they’re simply redefining it as “not speech” and creating liability for speaking
