From The Hill:

"if we're smart"... and Trump would have to be that?

Oh, man, we're screwed...😧
williamrknecht.bsky.social
That didn't take long, did it... 😧

Trump tries to take the credit.

But pretend you're a bookie. What odds do you give for a cease-fire to last, let alone any kind of a "new dawn?" Jews & Muslims there have hated each other for 80 years & more. Israelis flattened Gaza & killed thousands, creating a whole new terrorist generation.

It's imperative that we understand Trump's psychology. He's a narcissist--totally self-absorbed. He's a sociopath--lacking morality, conscience, empathy. He's a Machiavellian--scheming. And, he's a sadist--enjoying the suffering of rivals.

Yeah, those are difficult. You have to hone carefully along the string line.

With Plek, you just get it all close enough for hand grenades, and then the machine does the rest. It even takes into account strings' vibrational nodes as it cuts.

That's tech more modern than I learned at Ovation.

Honing bar is a time-saver because it's a giant file gliding over all frets w every stroke. Coupled with a cradle like you mention would give a better job than we were able to achieve at Ovation. Pleking is CNC machining & so is the gold standard.

All Gibson guitars are now Pleked.

Something like this for a 24" bar: www.etsy.com/listing/1856...
Then to a machine shop to surface-grind one side, then mill the other side into a channel. Probably cost you about $300, but cuts fret dressing down to ~20 minutes & you own it for life.

Pleking would come after your initial dressing.

At Ovation, we used honing bars to finish frets. Aluminum bar 2" cross section, milled out into a channel-shaped cross section to reduce weight, and run through a surface grinder to make the flat part flat within about 1/1000". Double-sided tape, then sandpaper, I forget what grit, probably 1000.

I feel the same way. I like blues, so Strat PUs for me. But, I've always liked the way the SG plays, hence my trying to get "best of both worlds," as you saw.

Way cool what you're doing. You're really producing works of art as well as functioning instruments.

Sorry for the hiatus. I'd been out chainsawing & had to get a bath, then discovered a something in one eye (it's OK now), and then dinner.

I paid $300 for my Plek job circa 2011. Internet says it's about the same now. It really does transform the guitar, though.

Thx. I linked the individual PU cavities with copper tubing, ran a wire to the bridge, painted all interiors with conductive carbon paint, and glued aluminum foil to the back of the pickguard & control cavity cover plate to give max RF shielding.

Figuring out the rotary switch was a trip.
williamrknecht.bsky.social
Interesting & clever. Love the wood & finish. What is that bridge PU?
williamrknecht.bsky.social
Those pickups are unknown to me. What are they?

Man, your axes are art.
williamrknecht.bsky.social
Nice (the inlay forms)

Those PUs look like Gibson Humbuckers. My '62 SG Standard Reissue has 'em. Classic.
williamrknecht.bsky.social
Interesting work on that nut. I take it that give better intonation?
williamrknecht.bsky.social
Aha...more of my Qs answered. You really are going for the gusto here.

Tell me about your favored pickups. Have you tried having any Plekked?

Right out of college my very first job was straightening necks and installing frets for Ovation Instruments. That was 1972.

Aha... You just answered my questions!
