At the UN today Trump called climate change the ‘greatest con job ever perpetrated on the world.’

Congrats to the clever plotters for enlisting the planet’s glaciers, oceans and forests in their scheme.

What we are witnessing is an outright abuse of power.

This administration is attacking critics and using fear as a weapon to silence anyone who would speak out. Media corporations — from television networks to newspapers — are capitulating to these threats.
willowpondfilms.bsky.social
There's never been a more urgent time to speak out -- NYC friends, please join us for a rally this Saturday 9/20 at noon. And there are marches all around the country, too. See you on the streets, and please share the news!

Peter Miller, a PBS/Documentary Filmmaker with nearly 4 decades of experience in the industry, calls the current existential threats to free speech "an unprecedented crisis for media and journalism."
“I have been directing, producing, and writing historical and biographical documentaries, primarily for PBS, for over thirty years. My work has been recognized with Emmy, Peabody, and DuPont-Columbia Awards. But more important has been its reach: the stories we tell help inform, enlighten, and inspire millions of viewers — and are offered by PBS for free to every home in America. PBS requires the highest level of journalistic and scholarly rigor from its filmmakers — the programs we make are steeped in research, nuance, and humanity. American democracy depends on an informed public, and PBS plays a central role in making that possible. Defunding public media is not just an assault on quality television, it is a catastrophe for our nation.”

Remembering two good men, Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti, executed August 23, 1927, during a time of political repression and anti-immigrant bigotry.

May their memories be a blessing and a reminder.

This is outrageous. Public broadcasting belongs to all of us. The programming it creates makes us smarter and better informed. It protects our democracy and elevates our souls. Shame on everyone responsible for this catastrophic loss. Fight back, people!
