the game feels insecure about itself. the lore is an incohesive mess. the character writing is dry and bland. enemies are terribly utilized and uncreative. gameplay is a snoozefest that's sometimes okay. minimum day runs are bloated and far less interesting.

playing it will just irritate you

im usually of the opinion that you should experience the less-desirable entries in a series you like, because it's better to have the knowledge and opinions of the series than to put yourself in a weird little box.

key word is usually. i still stand by it somewhat but pikmin 4 is a different breed

I think I liked Pikmin better when it was about very tiny middle aged salarymen exploring an empty, lonesome far-future earth and writing silently in little diaries, and humans were not acknowledged, but oh well; if that's what they want to do with it, sure. It's like totoro I guess

this game is so cool and i want to like it really badly. but im bad at puzzle games so most levels consist of me wandering around for a really long time until i come across the solution. also the retry system and sound design is bad

the game doesnt have a canon story. you're told in the manual to come up with your own story and send it to hudson soft (the developer and publisher).

the game starts off in normal location, then randomly takes you to The Aliens and Inside The Spaceship, and then you go back to earth

oops, getting ahead of myself. for clarity:

DK3 takes place in a greenhouse and you have to defend your plants from the insects that DK is angering. he's climbing in the rafters and you have to spray him to get him to leave.

so if you take the greenhouse and leave everything else intact it's odd

except DK3GC takes place in random locations in the quoted tweet, there's no greenhouse. there's no plants to defend. if dk touches the ground you lose. if he gets high enough in the air you win. there are insects attacking you for some reason. the whole premise falls apart on itself

the game is actually Donkey Kong 3: Great Counterattack, a sequel to Donkey Kong 3 (arcade), which is just Greenhouse for the Game and Watch but with DK for some reason causing havoc. you dont even play as mario, you play as some random named stanley.
