A full, official editorial today in the New York Times. Not an op-ed. The statements and images are made on behalf of the paper itself.

really gotta hand it to the rationalist community: they've given me a whole vocabulary of jargon where I now know, if I see it in the wild, I should entirely disregard the speaker

"populism" seems to play a similar role that "totalitarian" played in earlier generations. what it lacks in analytical clarity, coherence, or basic factual accuracy, it makes up for with an ability to heap scorn on political currents which share very little in common, but which centrists dislike.

there should be about 5 to 6 times as many magazines as there currently are for criticism and they should all pay on average 2 to 3 times as much as they currently do, and it should be easier to write for them. without that i think american literary culture is gonna continue to feel weirdly stagnant

It will be interesting to see how successfully the media can bury this.
Of course ET decisions are not binding. But this is the second ET judgment we have had in recent days which suggests that anti-trans campaigners have been grossly misstating the law in this area.

The ET states it plainly - FWS does not require a trans bathroom ban.

Noticeable that most news outlets are reporting the Peggie/Fife tribunal decision as a victory for Peggie, while Sex Matters have put out a statement attacking the decision; the tenor of coverage might well change between today and tomorrow’s press.

This is a real disaster for those - pretty much the entirety of the British media - advancing a maximalist reading of the For (Some) Women Scotland decision.

It seems like - not for the first time - the pro-trans inclusion side in an employment tribunal has basically been undermined by HR slip-ups?

This would be an incredible level of additional bureaucracy for public universities, effectively making boards responsible for all decisions in non-STEM fields. It's hard to imagine traditional conservatives supporting this type of government overreach.

Current headline on the BBC is a screaming, "Tribunal says nurse in trans changing room row was harassed by NHS Fife but dismisses other claims" which makes the ruling seem very much in Peggie's favour.

The proposals to limit Article 3 are absolutely terrifying. I struggle to think of something that has come out of any UK government which has concerned me more. This must be resisted absolutely.
