A free and welcoming urban winter trail in downtown Ottawa Ontario Canada
Just a stunningly gorgeous day out there. No wind, bench bears to keep you company. Don’t let your phone tell you it is too cold out.

Tuesday Plan: after yesterday’s big cleanup, network in good shape. Only touch up grooming planned.

Cleanup from the weekend complete. Enjoy. See green line for what hot touched.

Call for help: we need more snow under Churchill North Underpass. If you got 30 minutes to spare after work, it would really help. A crappy scoop is in position but best to bring your own so you have a familiar tool.
January 19, 2026 at 7:32 PM
Monday plan: after an extremely busy weekend, the trail has been worn down. We plan to go a full reset.

Thank you @canwarmuseum for supplying ski racks. We snow groom right up to your back door. Indoor parking, cafeteria. A great trail head for Para Skiers.

Sunday plan: we have got things under control, but it is the weekend and we want things super nice. Touch up grooming planned.

K-Trails version of heavy equipment.
January 17, 2026 at 6:45 PM
Eastern sectors of K-Trail got classic tracks today.
January 17, 2026 at 6:44 PM
Saturday Plan: the eastern sector of Ktrail did not get classic tracks yesterday and it has large snow drifts. These will get resolved today.

Encountered large patches of ice under the snow today making it treacherous to cross with snowmobiles. But the hidden ice was no match for our UTV, who casually walked and groomed over top of it without a hint of struggle. This vehicle was made possible by Caldwell Wealth Management Group of RBC

Done for today. See green line on map for what got touched.
January 16, 2026 at 8:28 PM
Friday Plan: it is going to be a long, long wonderful day. (Give us time. We should have everything done for the after-work crowd but there will be lots of good skiing throughout the day)
January 16, 2026 at 12:14 PM
“….watch out where the huskies go, stay away from that yellow snow!” [Our plan is to postpone grooming until the storm passes]
January 15, 2026 at 2:22 PM
Current trail conditions. Classic tracks holding up. Lots of people out.
January 13, 2026 at 7:44 PM
Snow grooming postponed until warming trend is over. It could last about two days
January 13, 2026 at 12:08 PM
Big day for these three essential pieces of equipment. The whole network got touched. The snow is like silk and the air temperature delicious. Consider it your after-work treat.
January 12, 2026 at 8:28 PM
Monday plan: full re-groom. (We went from scratch to a fully functional trail again yesterday but a lot of wind and fresh snow happened in the afternoon.)
January 12, 2026 at 11:18 AM
Making excellent progress. Everything has been touched. Classic tracks put in where ever we could.
January 11, 2026 at 6:53 PM
It was rough out on the trail, but for some it was just another day of getting outside and enjoying the outdoors . Lisa, a regular, celebrated her birthday today.
January 10, 2026 at 9:59 PM
Current trail conditions. Still hanging in there. Classic tracks holding their shape well.
January 8, 2026 at 8:22 PM
Thursday Plan: grooming put on hold due to warm temps. Trail remains in great shape. Enjoy it while it is good.
January 8, 2026 at 11:06 AM
Wednesday Plan: we are going to wait until the snow stops before processing it. In the meantime, conditions remain excellent. Don’t wait for us!

January 6th, 2026. Snow gauge is reading just under 30cms. This is undisturbed snow in the bush that is out of the wind. (Gauge Courtesy of Larry Wong)

Trail in great shape. Recent snow made all the difference. Classic tracks everywhere. See green for what got groomed. 10/10
