Kichi Sibi Winter Trail
@wintertrail.bsky.social
A free and welcoming urban winter trail in downtown Ottawa Ontario Canada
Sunday Plan: Keep the horses in the barn. Current trail conditions are excellent and hitting it with a machine would only make incremental improvements; or at least not enough to justify the fuel costs.

Grooming done for the day. See green for what got touched today and yellow for what we did yesterday. All good. This puts us in good shape for Sunday.
January 31, 2026 at 6:35 PM
Weekend Plan: with the warmer temperatures in the works, we anticipate higher usage. We plan to do some touch up work, and maybe reset some classic tracks, to make it extra nice.
January 31, 2026 at 12:38 PM
Current k-trail conditions. Still holding up just fine! If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
January 29, 2026 at 8:50 PM
Done. It is not cold out. It is not windy. Everything is groomed. Go play.
January 28, 2026 at 7:18 PM
Wednesday Plan: we got more snow than what was forecast yesterday. We are going reset everything….or at least try to.
January 28, 2026 at 10:55 AM
Current trail conditions. Classic tracks holding up very well. Centre lane reasonable solid.
January 27, 2026 at 5:09 PM
Attn After-Work-Crowd: you’re in luck. Everything is done. See green on map. This one goes out to @makerhouseco, a new sponsor this year.
January 26, 2026 at 8:44 PM
Lunch status. We now have something to offer. Lots more to do but there is no shortage of classic tracks. Grooming all the way to one of our sponsors, the @millstbrewpubottawa
January 26, 2026 at 6:29 PM
Monday Plan: snow accumulation is nothing extraordinary. Radar reports that it will move out by 10amish. But make no doubt, after two days of not grooming, due to cold, we have our work cut out for us!
January 26, 2026 at 11:14 AM
Considering the frigid temperatures and the looming snow storm, it is difficult to justify burning fuel today on snow grooming. It is best to keep the horses in the barn.

The trail is so blessed to be able to groom right alongside the champlain_park_rink and field house. To have these two recreation facilities work together as one is a dream come true and makes our neighborhood a wonderful place to live, work and play. Thx Champlain Park CA for your support
January 24, 2026 at 10:31 PM
You guessed it……..we will not be snow grooming today.
January 24, 2026 at 1:34 PM
Done for the day. See green for what got touched. Our Skis-For-Schools program is well underway and lots of happy students, many of them first time on skis!
January 23, 2026 at 7:34 PM
Update: not as cold out there as my silly phone reports. Grooming going well. Remic Rapids loop is definitely the pick of the day.
January 23, 2026 at 3:16 PM
Friday Plan: yesterday we put in a full day of grooming and so today we will throttle back to spot and maintenance grooming. We will also be monitoring usage and groom based on demand.
January 23, 2026 at 12:14 PM
Grooming done for today. A big thank you to one of our gold sponsors @morrishometeam . I love their company motto “Small Team Big Results”…….kinda like our charity that runs the trail
January 22, 2026 at 7:14 PM
Our Black Diamond trail, known as Mt.Lebreton, with its hills and step turns got groomed today for all those Klaebo types that want to werk their bods.
January 22, 2026 at 7:11 PM
Thursday Plan: not as much fresh snow as we hoped but certainly enough to warrant a full application of snow grooming. Deployment at 9ish.
January 22, 2026 at 12:47 PM
Just a stunningly gorgeous day out there. No wind, bench bears to keep you company. Don’t let your phone tell you it is too cold out.
January 20, 2026 at 6:34 PM
Tuesday Plan: after yesterday’s big cleanup, network in good shape. Only touch up grooming planned.
January 20, 2026 at 11:59 AM
Cleanup from the weekend complete. Enjoy. See green line for what hot touched.

Call for help: we need more snow under Churchill North Underpass. If you got 30 minutes to spare after work, it would really help. A crappy scoop is in position but best to bring your own so you have a familiar tool.
January 19, 2026 at 7:32 PM
Monday plan: after an extremely busy weekend, the trail has been worn down. We plan to go a full reset.
January 19, 2026 at 12:32 PM
Thank you @canwarmuseum for supplying ski racks. We snow groom right up to your back door. Indoor parking, cafeteria. A great trail head for Para Skiers.
