Quite easily one of the most reprehensible headlines I have seen Australia's publicly-funded, typically bipartisan news source ever publish. "Decades in the making" gives serious "inevitable" vibes to something that is not The Trumpstein Files.

The detail in this WIP genuinely puts the source to shame. Disclaimer: I am the source. I wrote the book that inspired this. I have been put to shame.

Feels pretty fucking great.
I set this aside months ago and I'm finally feeling confident enough to get back to it again. Working on the frame's final details (a few more stems of chrysanthemum buds) before I get back to the figures themselves.

Thanks for hosting! This is my most recent from the other night. Just something for fun!

I can quote most of Big Trouble in Little China, having killed vhs tapes rewatching it as a kid. But I never quite understood what "It's Miller Time" meant (being Australian and all).

Anyway, anytime I see the Pumpkin Pedo peddle the words "punishable by death", I'm pretty sure it's Miller time.

Damn glad to see Quietpiggy blow up. I read it when it happened and was like why isn't this bigger. I get that we just accept the vile personal attacks but this one struck me as a massive "showing you who he really is" moment. Zero waffle, zero filter. Just a Big Man fed up with them uppity women.

Because obvs I have more than 300 or so characters to say about it.

I can't tell if the title is a lie or not, but I'll never tire of bad dragon puns.

(As opposed to Bad Dragon puns.)
Dragon it out: Not a Review of King Sorrow by Joe Hill

Finished King Sorrow (Joe Hill, 275k words apparently -- I believe it) in almost record time.

Does that mean it was good?

Eh. It means it was decent lasagne. I can eat a heap of that shit, but most days I prefer a big salad, a modest amount of protein and carbs, maybe a slice of carrot cake. 3/5

We're about to see the most impressive cooking job in American history. Special thanks to the 1000 FBI kitchenhands without whom this wouldn't be possible.

As Zuckbook continues to enshittify itself, I find myself wishing I had my following/community there, here. Sure would be nice to finally ditch it...

At this point, this glorious point amid such a bluntly terrible year, it's not whether or not they'll do him; it's all about WHAT they will do him for.

Season 47 of This Is America may yet end with a bang and not a whimper...

As an Australian I sometimes wondered what the R stood for. Rats. It stands for Rats.

Sludging through King Sorrow, the doorstop du jour, and I can feel certain of my editor acquaintances breathing fire from here.

Were this an indie work in beta stage, I would be a very busy fellow indeed.

Instead it's an $18 bigbox impulse buy: me chasing the Needful Things dragon.

Wrong dragon.

Eh fine. Not bothering to quote anyone but it's as fun an idea as any.

Here's the first paragraph of my first novel, Blackcloak, published in 2015 and written in the folly of late-stage youthful fatalism.

It has "look I am a serious writer trying very hard here" written all over it.

My books are good. And free.

I dunno, apparently that isn't enough for people. I mean, I'm not the only one saying they're good. Plenty of river page and GR reviews.

Do you really think sprayed edges and a bunch of fucking tropes would make the writing any better?

So I should post about my experiences as a tourist at the Sunshine Coast Fiction Festival, but I'm still kind of processing. It was a *lot* of 🌶️ and 🐈 and 🦁 and 🦇 and 🪄. Some 🤑 ❤️ too. 🐎.

Is there room in that for my themes-not-tropes🌙 and ✝️ ? Maybe. But I admit I have my doubts...

I am SO close to being something interesting. I'm half-PoC. I'm mildly aut. I'm happily cis but not very masc. I was wild online before "online" became quaint. I will not be remembered for what I did for many, but who I was to a few.

On paper I'm dull
Almost abbreviated
I still write good books.

As I said in my review, in which I give white a coveted five star Accolade, this is true poetry that makes it all seem unaffected and effortless. m.a. white is, to crib The Wire, natural-born Po-et.

This little, immense book demands possession beyond the ever-disposable digital.
“It’s a book about being young in a new place. Without anything but momentum. It’s about heartbreak and loss. But not a bummer. It’s quick. Like being young. You can read it in an hour or two. Slip it in your back pocket and take it on your own adventures…”

Two fun facts about me:

In a former life, I supported an indie ARPG through its beta to the tune of $25k. I didn't even really enjoy it all that much but I loved what it represented.

In this life, I have played the Titan Quest ARPG on my tablet every day for years. It cost about ten bucks. Lol.
