I've made four SFF novelettes available for "pay what you want" on ITCH, including my prehistorical vampire horror story, The Third People, which was a quarterfinalist in the Writers of the Future Contest.

Four novelettes, four #SFF subgenres. Get at 'em, eh.

Cover of The Third People, by Lee Burton, depicting the skull of a non-human humanoid with scary teeth, set against a green background.

It is a story that asks the question: What if vampires evolved along with us? Cover of Do Unto Others, by Lee Burton, depicting a dead and gnarled tree that evokes a hanging tree. In the lower left is a hunched-over figure making his way towards what looks like the silhouette of a broken city in the distance.

Do Unto Others is a post-apocalyptic tale that questions how a message may be changed over a span of time. The cover of Ella by Lee Burton, depicting a girl in a red dress standing on her tiptoes at the edge of a small floating island with a string leading up to a bird, a few of which are flying past.

The story tells the tale of an imaginary friend to a potentially troubled girl The cover of Prometheus' Garden by Lee Burton, depicting an astronaut floating in space silhouetted by an eclipsed planet, with asteroids in the background.

It is a story that explores the idea of being stuck on a space station with potential enemies while a nuclear war breaks out on the Earth below.

Wow. I was listening to a single artist's playlist on Youtube, and right in the middle there's three HOUR-LONG sales pitches about cryptocurrency that's been inserted after the fact.

Dead Internet Theory jumping the shark.

Screenshot of a playlist, Pilotpriest - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, with a listing of the tracks. In the middle are two AI-generated scams that don't belong.

With our new issue, we are making the sad announcement that this will be the final year for On Spec. See www.onspec.ca for details.

Marketing is hard. #Book marketing is super hard. Getting reviews for those books is harder still. Here we have a #collection of #SFF books that seem to largely fall between the cracks of easily defined genres, deserving of some attention.

Maybe check 'em out.

Bad news: I've misplaced my wizard's ring and haven't been able to find it for several days

Good news: I found these two guys I drew ages ago while searching
Line art drawing of a cloaked and hooded wizard with his back to the viewer but he looks over his shoulder, his hands are held up in magical gestures Line art of a a wizard in high collar cloak, buttoned jacket a peaked cap with a wide brim, he holds a crystal studded wand

I kinda wondered if I could just edit as I go, but that'd be like painting a room and then ripping it up for renos.

Or like our local Works Dept. paving the road in front of our place and then coming back and ripping it up to install new water lines.

My most #Canadian opinion might be that I think there's genuinely genius episodes of Corner Gas, & I kinda find it comforting that if I want there's weird internet channels on my TV that I can flip through & find an all Corner Gas channel between an all Baywatch and an all "Millionaire" channel.
a woman says it is not arbitrary it 's just something i came up with ...
Alt: Lacy from Corner Gas says, "It is not arbitrary it 's just something i came up with ... and I'm sticking to, for no reason."

Ha. Ditto. This is one of the few cars I've ever went, Yep, I would drive this happily. In some kinda fantasy world of course.

An unnoted aspect of this is how much this affects fans of other artists. There's only a few vinyl pressing plants these days, and between swift's and Adele's huge orders, a couple years ago other artists had a long delay in putting out their own albums.

I see a lot of people on this platform just dumping on Kamala Harris or Buttigieg for what seem like random statements, saying they're no better than Trump etc.

Which is of course fucking insane.

Reminds me of two main Russian disinfo tactics:

1: Amplify extreme positions
2: Both side-ism.

It's spooky season which means we have a new cosmic horror novel! This is like if Barb Wire was dropped into a Lovecraftian story, set in Kingsport after the apocalypse. If you like Fallout, Cyberpunk, or Lovecraft, with more sex? This is for you.

#horrorsky #newrelease
The cover for Kingsport Knockout by J.M. Keep. Features a 3d female model with dark hair that blows majestically behind her as she stares off with a defiant but neutral expression. She's wearing a tanktop and ripped jeans, and has some jewels shimmering on her body. Behind her is a ruins on fire with strange runic symbols glowing in the air.

The third one is what gets me. Likely the reason we're in the position we're in now.

Hardest part of doing a developmental edit is reading past the grammar and punctuation errors that will be someone else's job to deal with.

Still visitings. Stepped outside today and the whole street smelled like pine.

Kinda silly, but after 10 years living on the loudest touristy corner in the province, & 2 months evicting boxes through cruise-ship loads of tourists while motorcycles farted by, yesterday I stepped out of my parents' house & saw no people, heard only birds, &, struck by it, I took a quick picture.
Picture of a sunny street with fluffy clouds in the sky, houses on the sides and a few lawns. Houses in the distance are on hills. The road is sorta dilapidated. There are no people.

ie: Why they love "normal" art, that is paintings from famous painters, except they don't know anything about those paintings, don't understand them, and don't understand why they're famous paintings -- many of them considered radical at the time by people they would hate today.
