On behalf of the entire @wmata.com family I want to pass along our thoughts & love to the two WVA National Guardsmen tragically shot today in DC. Guardsmen have been patrolling Metro & I thx them daily for their service. MTPD is assisting FBI & MPD with the investigation.

Another month of US transit data is just in, & DC's WMATA remains the fastest-growing major US transit agency, with ridership up 12% compared to last year

I have been serving on the DMV Moves Task Force over the past 18 months or so. The Task Force has been working to address the Metro/WMATA funding issues related to the region’s 2018 $500 million commitment.
Morning CM. Just some add’l context on incident. MTPD was doing regular fare enforcement (IRS is on federal Taskforce & sometimes supports MTPD). An adult female was caught fraudulently using a Kids Ride Free card then punched an officer in the face. She was arrested for assaulting a police officer.
I was on the ground earlier today at the Petworth Metro Station after I received troubling reports from neighbors about IRS Criminal Investigation agents working with Transit Police to interrogate riders on WMATA buses.

Appreciate the leadership of the VA SJ28 Committee leaders who are working to address @wmata.com longterm funding needs. Next session is time to solve funding once & for all. The support of Metro by our partners is truly appreciated & why Metro was named top transit agency in US.

Stations scheduled for escalator replacement in 2025 include Navy Yard, Rosslyn, Gallery Place, L’Enfant Plaza west entrance, and Foggy Bottom.

Today, we removed the final one from Greenbelt Rail Yard. These trains were first introduced in the early 1980s, operated nearly 200M miles, and carried more than 775M passengers.
