They were found in 168 of 195 sites of special scientific interest (SSSIs), so named because of the rare wildlife they harbour.

An actual just energy transition needs two things: a clear plan to get rid of fossil fuels, and serious money for climate adaptation. COP30 ended weak on both.

We do have the Belém Action Mechanism (BAM), but what is a just transition mechanism w/o the money or political will to make it happen?

The #COP30 Mutirão decision is here. On the one hand, we had the COP30 President speak in the closing plenary about the need for a roadmap to phase out fossil fuels.

On the other hand, no such roadmap appeared in the final text.
