Bais grandmother is Temulun, the khatun of the Mol, who has a bunch of prophetic abilities. She raised Bai after Bais mom was slain in battle after succumbing to her Inner Beast when Bai was 6. She sent Bai on a journey to learn healing magic in preparation for a foretold plague coming to the steppe
