I appreciate this idea, and it's definitely a more eloquently worded version of: "this game just FEELS good".

Immersion (and breaking it) doesn't just apply to writing and audio design. It also applies to mechanics. If a platformer's jump is good it's because it FEELS like it should.

Jeremy Parish once described Super Mario Bros' physics as "convincing, not realistic," and that phrasing has stuck with me ever since. I think that can be fittingly applied to a lot of video game attributes, including this.
