Internet is down, so what can you do besides sit on the couch and stare out the window?

"Old technology" like iPods and MP3 players are making a comeback at our son's school thanks to the cell phone ban.

Just so you know: Even if the IRS shuts down your tax returns and any payments are still due on time. You will face fines, penalties, interest if you’re late. Even if they’re closed.

You don't like text getting swollen as a form of acknowledgement? 🤢

The latest android update makes my whole phone feel like it's running in comic sans.

Signed up for my first two Friday shifts at the Multnomah County Animal Shelter.

Hoping that some hands-on labor and opportunity to surround myself with animals will be a good periodic lift to the spirits.

Gotta get in 10 hours before you're allowed to do the dog walking though.

*With obvious exceptions for near-completed projects waiting on final K-1s, etc.

Thinking about the people eating up my time in September, and I'm not very worried about upsetting any of them.

#TaxBS, I think next year I'll put a hard stop on extended returns well ahead of 9/15 & 10/15 deadlines.*

Get it done over the summer, or you're back-burnered. Make fall planning focused.

I feel like I'm slipping on my ability to deliver quality proactive planning ahead of Q3 and into YE.

Oh gods something like this happened with the OSCPA forums. You can reply to email notification to respond to a post.

Queue someone's out of office replying to an email... which creates a post reply... which sends an email... which triggers the OOO...

OSCPA had to disable their account.

Related: not using the signals or flashing lights at a designated crosswalk. Just YOLOing through it.

It's a law of dog parenting that if you say or do something that induces zoomies/excitement you must follow through. Even if unintended.

Time to get the week started, friends.

Everyone! There is nothing on my calendar for tomorrow!

I'm gonna get so much done!

(which really means I'm gonna do like one big thing or a handful of medium things then call it a day)

So a post on X that someone was surprised walking to a coffee shop when a person they were with refused to go in due to a pride flag.

Now I feel obligated to walk to my local coffee shop, with their pride flag, and get a coffee.

Plus the sun's out. Working instead is just silly.

For absolutely no reason at all my anxiety is ramping up today.

Time to go stand in the sun before the next meeting.

It's crazy the amount of SE returns I'm finalizing now who don't make estimate payments.

If you're self employed an easy win to save yourself headache, balance cash flow, and avoid penalties is not waiting until nine months into next year to address your taxes.

The IRS has released a draft of the new Schedule 1-A, Additional Deductions. You’ll use it to calculate new deductions for tips, overtime, car interest, and seniors.
Here’s a first look, including some examples and calculations.

Instagram ads are viciously good. Every one is a little bit of a temptation.

But maybe a better take to try and remember for next time would be "maximizing the tax savings we can reasonably take."

I was asked if I was a "conservative" or "aggressive" tax pro.

My best answer was that I follow the rules and avoid trouble.

We take positions that protect you in the event of an audit and won't make you lose a court case.

I went with "realistic." #TaxBS

Said it before and I'll say it again: being a glorified dog bed is a simple calling but one I am happy to fulfill.

(Immediately after this photo he got squirmy and bailed. It is dinner time after all)
