Big seas often mean the Grey Seals are forced from their usual haunt out on Worms Head, instead finding refuge in the more sheltered bays around Gower. Storm Amy was no exception with three bottling in Fall Bay. #mammals #photography #nature #wildlife #wildlifePhotography #UKWildlife

🐟"Only 41% of the UK’s commercial fish populations have been found to be healthy. 1/4 are being fished beyond sustainable limits. 1/6 are both critically low & yet still being overfished"

A suprise find, plus a new species for me today #Aractober First noticed the distinctive web, exactly as described. Quick look and there they were... Badumna longinqua. Lots of webs in the Barry B&M, guessing another location for S.Wales. @britishspiders.bsky.social @sewbrec.org.uk @cofnod.org.uk

Dutch supermarkets to stop selling Atlantic mackerel due to overfishing concerns 🚨

Northeast Atlantic mackerel is on the brink & experts have warned catch limits must be slashed by 70% to save them

This is serious. If we don't respect the science, our seas will suffer.

Really nice views of the Pallid Harrier at dusk tonight, quartering Llanrhidian Marsh before going to roost. Double figure Great White Egrets, a pair of Peregrines, Kingfisher and a/the Glossy Ibis seen on a couple of occasions too. #birdingWales #rareBirdsUK #UKWildlife @birdsinwales.bsky.social

Enjoyed a walk from Stepaside to Saundersfoot today, hoping for a windblown migrant or two. No luck on that score but plenty of the commoner woodland species seen including this lovely Goldcrest. A flash of gold amidst the undergrowth. #birdingWales #UKWildlife #birds #birdsOfTheWorld

Huge thanks to everyone who shared pix for this evening's #WildFlowerHour!
As autumn progresses, it's always a treat to see which wild plants are still managing to bloom across Britain & Ireland.
Have a great week, see you again next Sunday!

This Sea Aster is still putting on an incredible display at RSPB Lodmoor Reserve. Absolutely gorgeous.

Combined with seeing the Glossy Ibis going off to roost with the Great White Egrets, and a Marsh Harrier floating over the reed beds....it doesn't get much better than this!!

Celebrate by objecting to energy park plans which will *harm* a red squirrel colony in mid-Wales which has been quietly nurtured by conservationists! And risible offer of planting new trees to replace felled mature trees is NO USE for the squirrels.

A mycological mystery on #UKFungiDay - at least, it is to us! Seen growing on fallen timber at the Wildlife Trust's Gelli Hir nature reserve, Gower.
is it a fungus? Or a lichen? Or a fungus on lichen? Pale lemony-green with black spots. Thoughts please #mycologists ?
What look like pale lemony-green florets of fungi with black spots on them, growing on the bark of old fallen timber.
