I've been doing a lot of stuff on #Wikitree lately. Apart from my first Connect-a-Thon, I adopted nine orphaned profiles. I feel like I'm slowly getting the hang of it now, but it was a steep learning curve.

Hallo, just thought I'd say hallo before #genhour is over. I've only just started getting your messages. I kept missing it and now I'm here the hashtag is lagging.

Today the #Wikitree #ConnectAThonXVI came to an end with a total of 80,336 profiles added. I myself added 112 which was 12 more than my personal goal. The next one is Apr 10-13 and I'm already looking forward to it.

Have to stop on #Wikitree #ConnectAThonXVI because my head is buzzing and I need to save a bit of energy for my big photo tour tomorrow. Off to the GDR nuclear command bunker. So excited!

Taking part for the first time in a #Wikitree Connect-a-thon this weekend, starting today. I'm all ready to go, registered with my team (Newt), Discord installed, watched the intro video, and added my last couple of great-grandparents who were missing. Let's go!

I have written before about my great-Uncle Alfred Victor or ‘Tony’, as he was known. In the meantime, I’ve dug deeper into his story and how it ended, so tragically. Read the third part of the series “The Blenkiron Brothers”.

Today, one day after my presentation on Speakers' Corner, I received confirmation of the date of death for Samuel Leonard Thomas Ashworth, or "Uncle Len", who killed his third wife.

Such a tragedy, and a story wonderfully told. Your retelling of this series gives it a new nuance. You can hear Xanthe's segment starting at around 16:25 in the program. Show notes include links to Xanthe's series on her Substack, X-factored Stories. Superb:

So great to have had the opportunity to tell this story of my Uncle Len, who killed his third wife, Lisbeth. She was an Austrian Jew who had already lost her parents to the Nazis.

Not sure if I can make #genhour tonight as I'm presenting on Speakers' Corner, but I have a question: Is there a virtual place where European family historians meet? 🧵

Everyone's posting their plans and goals for 2026, so these are mine:
- publish at least two posts a month, covering a total of 52 ancestors
- write stories for all my Sixteens and as many of their siblings as I can
- focus on the women, take part in Ancestral Women's Challenge

Prof. Gottstein was an important person for the physicians' peace movement in Germany and internationally. He left behind an enormous family, both related by blood and related by deep affection. RIP Ulrich. ❤️🕯️

That's how I'm doing it too. Some of them will also be updates, or part of other challenges, like Ancestral Women and A-Z. But I want to total 52.

Only a couple of days to Christmas, and I have been thinking about the Christmas Truce in 1914 on the Western Front. What happens when you fraternise with the enemy or you discover that he isn’t bad, but just following orders?
