As the last 24h have shown, ChatGPT is breakthrough mainstream accessible AI. This is akin to what Apple was when they “won” mobile. You don’t need to do it first. Just make it easy.

The "... a lot of people literally
never learned how to surf the web" line from the final BNet zine hits hard.

Is London only great when the sun's out and it's 16-25° cos we're so beaten down the rest of the time? Anyhow best city in the world rahrahrah.

Bullies are cowards. The people always suffer when ruled by cowards. A sad dark day.

So hear me out… “Meet Cute” x “Doom”

At the time was feeling The Gorge was giving heavy Doom/id vibes then saw Trent Reznor did the music. It surely must’ve started out as a Doom script with mood board or something. 😆

I’ve lived long enough now to know that I’ll never underestimate how long it takes for things to be known, especially as knowledge changes over time.

The effort required to change knowledge and perspective is immense, especially if a belief or behaviour is strongly held.

Apple should’ve made the Google Super Bowl ad. Instead they’ve made a widely panned series of Apple Intelligence ads and released a lackluster set of AI integrations. They have all the right pieces. Here’s hoping for a comeback.

Awesome talks at the London Creative Coding meetup last night from Ray (@field-io.bsky.social) and @piotrmirowski.bsky.social (Improbotics/Google DeepMind).

Loved hearing about all the care that went into IBM Quantum branding and experiments in using AI for improv.

Still takes a smart and curious person to ask the right questions and vet the output. These are valuable general soft skills.

The takeaway should be that LLMs are most useful for those who are already skilled and talented. Who have the right mindset.

I think this is what Cuban was getting at.
If you have zero education, but learn how to ask AI models the right questions , in many jobs you will be able to outperform someone with an advanced degree, but who is unwilling to use Large Language Models.

Just takes a smartphone, curiosity to experiment and a mindset to learn.

Who will win? Right wing bullying or the mighty dollar?
Money talks
We got a Costco membership for the first time in our lives today. They asked why & I said because treat your workers well, you value diversity, & you didn’t cave in to authoritarian demands. He said: “We’ve been getting lots of folks saying that, thanks for joining.”

Who needs a gallon of ketchup?

An enlightening article on the many definitions of cringe.

#207: The Cringe Matrix
Despite being treated in the popular imagination as something specific—earnestness, maybe—I think cringe is actually much more complicated than that.

This is by far the funniest AI video series I've seen so far and I hesistate to use the word AI because bots and people's brains short circuit but any way check out the whole series. The Monoverse looks very bright.

Our next president will have to be technologically competent, at least , in order for us to sustain our place in the world.

This will become increasingly obvious over the next 4 years as AI gets more powerful

This isn’t necessarily bad. Truly. Done right, we will be a better, more equal society

The biggest cage match ever will be between Musk and Trump. Elon will try to implement AI in a manner that automates much of what Trump is now trying to control.

Trump will have no understanding of what is going on and will have to turn to the AI oligarchs to support him in this battle.

“10 chatbot answers” is the “10 blue links” of the future isn’t it? Oh no 🥲
February 16, 2025 at 11:35 AM
Search/Research is clearly magnitudes better when you can clarify, filter and explore through further conversation. Once you start down this path it feels archaic to go back to "10 blue links" and similar paradigms.
