Our quality of life should not be for sale.
And we don’t owe businesses our streets.

Our public servants, our infrastructure decisions, and the development that follows should serve our communities first and improve our quality of life.

Hennepin County’s proposed layout for Lyndale Avenue S. falls short.

It’s not a people-first design. It’s a decorated, street-level parking lot, dusted with the occasional confetti of mode shift virtue signals.

No protected bikeways, 24/7 bus lanes, or green space throughout the entire corridor.

It took many brilliant collaborators to bring this to life. And some courageous Puerto Ricans here in the Twin Cities. Pedacito de Tierra drops October 3. So excited to share—hope you’ll listen.

Minneapolis now ranks 2nd worst in the world for air quality. Unhealthy smoke from massive Canadian wildfires choke our skies and spoil our precious summer months.

But we have to do our part.
We need your help in continuing to put pressure on decision-makers to restore the boulevard options for the Rethinking I-94 project. @governorwalz.mn.gov has a say over which project options will move forward.

We all want safer streets. Traffic cameras won’t get us there.

If we’re serious about vision zero, we have to address all causes of traffic related deaths—including car pollution, which disproportionately harms the same communities that are over policed through traffic enforcement.
Today, I signed an action to launch traffic safety cameras across Minneapolis. These devices make it clear: speeding and reckless driving won’t be tolerated. This pilot is about saving lives—not writing tickets—and it’s a key part of our Vision Zero effort to eliminate traffic deaths.

It’s not over…but you have to get involved. And stay involved. Take the action step and sign the letter, and keep checking in for more opportunities to support the work.
There's still time to act.

Take action to keep the Twin Cities Boulevard vision alive.

“I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro’s great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen’s Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to “order” than to justice…”
This was my testimony today: it is clear that the at-grade options will not work for this corridor.

However, the advocacy for at-grade gives us concrete ideas that can be used to improve the Reduced Freeway options — actively working to reduce VMT, and freeing up more land for homes and business.

We have to be honest. Regardless record on other issues, @smith.senate.gov is supporting Hwy reconstruction. Since cutting the ribbon on I-35, @governorwalz.mn.gov has not been active in consequential transportation issues—including Rethinking I-94.

These are not the actions of climate champions.
January 17, 2025 at 8:22 PM
Incrementalism is the bondage of race & class hierarchy @smith.senate.gov People living in areas protected by racial covenants don’t live on top of hwys that pollute them for generations & Rondo is a critical part of a larger whole that merits the same quality of life and generational wealth.
The Rondo neighborhood is the center of St. Paul's Black community and lost more than 1,000 homes + businesses when I-94 was built. A land bridge over the interstate could address the historical harm caused by its construction.

And we’re one step closer to making that happen.

Don’t let @mndot.bsky.social confuse you into letting up. We’re not sprinters. Bring your long distance gear and let them know we’re not done until a highway conversion becomes the preferred alternative.
"No final decision has been made, and, in any case, the decision isn’t up to MnDOT. Gov. Tim Walz and Minnesota’s Legislature — and ultimately the people who elect them — will have the final say, so it’s important that we keep fighting to change a status quo that prioritizes cars over people."

Feeling wary about 2025? Make a New Year’s resolution to use your voice a little more. In fact, start by wishing @MnDOT Happy Holidays and remind them that you wanted a Twin Cities Boulevard for Christmas. Send an email! actionnetwork.org/letters/save-t…
