I am a translator. I mainly translate indie games from English to Japanese. In addition to translation, I can also create and send press releases to gaming media, select fonts, edit image files (.psd and .xcf), etc. Please feel free to send me a DM or Discord.

4. This applies specifically to Japanese media: translate your store page even if Japanese localization isn't finalized yet. However, poor machine translation tends to leave a bad impression.

3. Upload trailer to your official YouTube channel. Low view counts are acceptable. Media outlets prefer official content whenever possible.

2. Provide Steam keys for media outlets. Having these keys increases the likelihood of gaining media coverage. At the media outlets I write for, having these makes us consider writing a hands-on review.

As a game translator who recently started working as a game writer, I'm posting advices here for game developers issuing press releases.

1. Prepare a press kit containing high-resolution title images. These are often used at the very top of articles or for thumbnails.

The protagonist, targeted in a witch hunt, sets sail alone to escape the death penalty. Despite its simple gameplay, the game offers tasteful visuals and text brimming with excitement for the unknown—a truly enjoyable experience. #indiegame

As a game translator, I worked on translating "Landmine Princess." Aside from the translation, I sent out press releases to Japanese game media outlets. I was happy that most of the media outlets I sent them to covered it. #indiegame

Landmine Princess on Steam
Meet Mina! She's a landmine girl! That means she's cute on the outside, but dangerous on the inside! But maybe she's the kind of danger you've always been looking for. This is a rogue fast-love dating...

Actually, I've been working as a game writer since August. In this post, I'd like to introduce the work I've done so far.

I wrote a gameplay report article for a game being promoted by a Japanese household goods manufacturer for cleaning products. #indiegame

"fiction.colors"
This is a collection of 8 small exploration games. The overall low-poly and colorful aesthetic was very enjoyable. There's no set objective, much like a VRChat world, but that's what makes it great. #indiegame

"Japan Stigmatized Property"
The locations have a fantastic atmosphere. It doesn't have the punch of a horror game that would "curse you through the lens," so it's perfect for beginners who want a chill horror experience. It's a great little game you can play casually. #indiegame

I also highly recommend collaborating with your translators on promotional efforts.

For instance, in a title where I handled the translation and press releases, 80% of players were Japanese two months after the Japanese language implementation, and it garnered over 1,900 reviews.

You never know which country your game will resonate with most. That's why you should never neglect press releases, providing keys to streamers, and updating your social media.

I know youre probably exhausted by the time your game launches, but that little extra effort can make all the difference.

From my experience sending press releases as a translator, I want to tell all indie game developers to consider the day you implement languages as a "second launch day"

For non-English speaking gamers, the addition of their native language can feel just a new game release. #indiegame #indiegamedev

“Snowsquall Grip”
A low-poly horror game where you progress through a blizzard with almost nothing, and the difficulty of the physics-based controls immerses you, as if expressing your freezing body. #indiegame

“Squirrel Stapler”
The stage concept of affixing a squirrel to her corpse is good. The minimalist yet adequate depiction of this was also great. #indiegame

Ah, it's not "only language-independent games." It's "particularly language-independent game."
