Scholars from Estonia, Czechia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine write nuanced, deeply argued pieces about the war. One of them about Westsplaing. An American scholar jumps in, distorts their views, and explains that their ideas are “American frameworks.” You can't make this stuff up.
What ensues in academia when one critiques another’s favourite empire…The charge of borrowing from US frameworks toward a robust critique of westsplaining must be the biggest straw person fallacy to my work so far. How did this get through peer review? But also glad to stand there with Maria Mälksoo

Musk is on his way to becoming the world’s first trillionaire

He could have done so much good… or just paid a fair share of taxes

He chose to kill USAID, which has already caused the deaths of 600,000 people, two-thirds of them kids

At least 10,000 people gathered in Riga tonight (with many more in Latvia and abroad) to protest the majority decision by Latvian politicians to withdraw from the Istanbul Convention (Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women). We are powerful! 🇱🇻

The University of Vienna (where I’m doing my PhD) keeps teaching coloniality not through theory but practice. After pulling rooms for Anti-Colonial Week on global legacies and Palestine, its pattern of silencing Palestine discourse has become its own lesson in colonial power. linktr.ee/anticolonial...

Sometimes it is not only about values, but also about optics. In Latvia we discuss local political gambles behind yesterday's vote for the country to leave the Istanbul Convention, from the outside, it is clear - Latvia follows Hungary, Slovakia and other countries that head East.

I can’t express how much it means to read my thesis advisor’s T.T. comments: “I enjoyed it!”[she's German, not American :D] along with genuinely helpful feedback to make my work even better. It’s pure honey to my ears and an absolute high! I’m genuinely in love with my work right now. Damn, girl!
