Little Orange Dudes

Today I discovered some Oleander Aphids munching on some milkweed. I'd never seen these little fellas until now, but I like how they wiggle.

Rainbow Bacteria

I mistook this metallic iridescence to be some kind of oil pollution. After some research, I've concluded it is some kind of bacteria which is rich in iron and other minerals.

The featured plant today is the Juniperus virginiana, also known as the red cedar. Their needles have the tendency to raise the pH of soil, which makes it more difficult for other plants to absorb nutrients. They smell lemony and piney too!
