I get consistently better performance, both in FPS and Simulation speed on CS2 than CS1 and it's a noticeable improvement. It's just got a higher floor as well as a higher ceiling.

A lot of the times when you tell someone that Cities Skylines 2 runs better than the first game you get a lot of people telling you you're wrong. But like, if you got good hardware, it genuinely does.

But because so much of it is just... mindless. It's hard to engage, and I dread doing anything but story content. Playing a variety of other MMOs recently really made me realise just how much of an issue with FFXIV this is. It sucks.

I whine about it because I want for FFXIV to be the game I am eager to launch. I wanna be able to immerse my self in the world and story. I wanna enjoy dungeons and open world content. I wanna have fun doing the grinds.

Doing walk here, talk to this guy quests for 3 hours to then kill 3 enemies in the open world, and maybe do some kind of missions, for the occasional moment of brilliance is seriously tedious. There's fun to be had but at what cost.

The thing about FFXIV is that I like FFXIV. I enjoy the story, think the boss design can be fun, and I want to enjoy content. But 99% of the game is straight up bad. Doing mindless wall to wall pulls in between engaging bossfights is bad.

It's not even a PoE situation where there's an in game player economy so broken builds actually stifle players choice. Or Dark Souls where other players can PvP you with broken items. It's just devs punishing players for discovering fun combos.

It's more forgivable with Wilds because Monster Hunter in general isn't about taking advantage of random item modifiers in builds.

I like the Sonic Frontiers approach to this of looking at tech people came up with, and rather than patching it out, recognising it. It actually ended up being a useful tool that way.

Balance changes for a coop pve game is genuinely insane. Let people have fun. If someone wants a challenge they can just not use those builds.

Borderlands 4 devs announcing they're gonna kill the fun builds people have been making is genuinely wild. It's like you make a game about combining abilities to make builds, see people are making fun OP stuff with it for fun and go "oh no not like this"
