Hello, BlueSky! This is the official account for ZDoom Wars 2, a FPS/RTS hybrid mod for Doom 2, to be run in the Ultimate ZDoom source port. It is being developed by Captain Ventris and Ariadne. All is subject to change.

There are multiple Hero Talents that cause enemies to become frightened and fall back. The Iron Lich has a passive where all its Fire spells do that. The Cyberdemon has a roar, etc. it’ll be massively disruptive to a Battleline, given how quick flanking maneuvers end an engagement. Exciting!

One time I did a post with a fake label saying I’m part of a terrorist organization, but it was too seamless so I got a message from my Co-Dev going “???” within like 5 minutes.

All 16 Talents down! Favorite from this round is the Entity’s Multibolt, whereby it gets extra, independent attacks that can take on other targets. It’s neat!

A few cool but super simple ones today are one where the Spider Mastermind increases the size of Arachnotrons’ magazines while alive. Another causes an occasional meteor to impact around the Flembomination. I’ll be coding one later where the Heresiarch makes Faction Abilities cheaper while it lives.
Got 11 Talents down so far this weekend! Aiming for 16 like usual, then I’ll be doing more throughout the week. I’ve assessed the difficulties of the Ults and think a couple will be super tedious, but all should be done within the time frame I’m aiming for!

A reminder that I will be establishing an official ZDoom Wars 2 YouTube channel, to premier hosting the Hero Duel Tournament. The more I test, the less I know who’s going to win. I’ve still got a seed order based on a gut check. It’ll be single elimination, Bo3. No need to get complicated.

3 day weekend coming up, and you know what that means: TALENTS. Only … 72 to go! Then it’s on to the 48 Ults. Sheeeeesh

The cheapest unit is the Common Flemoid, at 2 mana, 0 favor. The most expensive non-hero is the Death Wyvern/Meshwalker, tied at 60/40. The cheapest Hero is the Iron Lich at 175/100. The Land Carrier is a monstrous 325/225! Big range!
I had the Land Carrier’s independent turrets drop their target each shot in hopes of causing them to fire at various foes in a large battle. It’s a fun feature as is, but if the Land Carrier properly multitasks that will make an even clearer case for its price (the most expensive hero)!

The Land Carrier has this long ass attack state, and it’s got talents that alter what projectiles used AND 8 independent turrets, so its definition is exceeding 1800 lines of code at this point and I’m not nearly done with its Talents. It’s gonna be a monster when it’s done!

Got a total of 21 Talents done this weekend. Taking the rest of the day off. If I keep this up I’ll be ahead of schedule and it will give me more time to do the Ults, which are tricky. Haven’t had to Dev with a deadline before! Gotta make April 5th for the start of the Hero Tournament!

Getting some more Talents done, but my take away today is that it’s hilarious how every single being in the universe wants to bang SG-1. They rule, they deserve it, don’t get me wrong, but damn space people be horny.

Maulotaur today was brutal. He has 2 Attack slots so I had to write logic to equally consider each slot’s Talents every attack. Sometimes there ISN’T a Talent in a slot, so I had to account for that as well. Must have taken an hour and a half because I was tired and making mistakes. Works now!

The Heresiarch, being the most classic Caster Hero, got a Fireball spell. Very simple, but he HAD to have that, come on!
BAM! 16 Talents once again! Took me all damn day but I gotta get it all done in time for the tournament. I hope to do some extra tomorrow. My brain is thoroughly tired.

We’re at 12 talents, now! I had to rig up a system to make Fear Effects for the Cyberdemon’s Roar ability. I didn’t want to just toggle +FRIGHTENING because that might affect allies. So it instead gives a countdown item to foes and toggles fear each second until the items run out. Resets fear. Done.
