The ref shrug right after that happened is insane.

That's fine for now, but I intend on moving everything possible to local native Linux versions of the emulators I use except in cases where I cannot like TeknoParrot. So far, so good. Just gotta be very careful about case-sensitivity on ext4.

Started updating the Attract Mode paths for thumbnails and movies to match the new ext4 file system setup. Hit the button accidentally to start a game and it.... unexpectedly booted up? Turns out the paths still match and even though I never installed wine, Windows Retroarch was running Doom 32x.

Arcade conversion to Linux progress: I had my entire setup on an external hard drive and kept everything for the arcade on it, made it fully portable so I could mount as any drive letter. I copied the data off, formatted ext4 and copied everything back on.

That's the best part, no VC could ever step in and fuck things up because it's all open source so there will always be someone that will fork and start a new distribution without all that.

I haven't watched the video yet but I appreciate you putting your experiences out there.

You have definitely earned your title.

In the most capitalistic move I've ever seen, the owner of the store - who was right next to me when it happened - didn't check on me. He just stepped over my body, picked up the Tomb Raider 2 game and case, slapped a $45 sticker on it and put it right out for sale in less than 30 seconds.
February 2, 2026 at 4:23 PM
"Don't you support your own product?!" he screams before throwing the game, jewel case and all into my face. I fell over, felt I was bleeding from the eyebrow and the guy ran out of the store. Mind you, I was a teenager when this happened.

I told him it was excessive and to stop calling and there's a paid tipline on the back of the instruction manual. An hour later, the guy shows up at the store asking for more help while we're *very* busy and I tell him we don't have time, call the tip line.

Someone asked me what happened when I got hit in the face with a copy of Tomb Raider 2 while working at a game store.

A customer kept calling in to ask for hints from us, knowing someone at the store had beaten it already. He was calling like 10+ times a day. We don't usually mind but...

Fun fact, playing Overwatch increases For You response time from 90ms to 115ms.

To be fair though, have the Bruins ever been likeable?

Man, one thing I really miss from the US, french bread pizza. Just doesn't exist here in Canada.

I believe we call this "technical debt".

Converting my arcade machine over to Linux was the easy part. Trying to properly organize everything I had on it into something resembling a sensible setup where everything is in its proper place is going to be... an effort. On top of needing to fix all the paths for the emulators and... oh boy.
February 2, 2026 at 2:19 AM
How long has it been since you last used it?

Also, I remember when I was working on VR games, we had to come up with guidelines for our testers regarding how long they can test at a time and such. There's a lot of VR specific stuff to take into account.

You might think it's cool to come here and post screenshots and dunk on what's happening over on bird site but uh... WHY ARE YOU EVEN STILL THERE TO SEE ANY OF THAT SHIT ANYWAYS?!?

The problem with that is that a lot of people who don't have English as a first language don't realize there's a difference. But I fully agree with you.

I've been running mostly Linux since 1999, but finally decided to take the plunge on my Windows handheld and arcade machine this past week. Good riddance.

I've been doing exactly this for Windows and Linux for quite a while now (I have a ton of games on it) and using the Gamevault app hosted on my server to serve up the games wherever I want to play them.
