We need stronger protections for traders, and stricter rules on developers to stop these important cultural spaces from being erased.

The Mayor mentions investment from city hall but I've raised before it isnt being spent on things traders need & markets are still under threat.

🚨Four more traders have been evicted in Elephant and Castle.

There’s Save Ridley Road, Friends of Queens Market, Save Brick Lane, Friends of Shepherd’s Bush… these campaigns exist because people are concerned about the future of our markets and community spaces.

I am horrified to learn of the attack on the Peacehaven Mosque last night. My full solidarity and thoughts are with Muslim communities in Peacehaven and across the country.

The suspected arson attack comes just days after two people were killed in an appalling attack on a synagogue in Manchester as they attended Yom Kippur services. It also follows a spate of attacks on mosques across the country. It is no coincidence that this uptick in violence has increased as politicians of many stripes, including Prime Minister Keir Starmer, have dialled up divisive rhetoric, weaponising tragedy and pain for political gain.

The abhorrent hatred and spreading of fear cannot stand. I echo the sentiments of my colleague Zack Polanski last week that we must unite against hate and bring communities together.

We will continue to work with colleagues in Hackney, across London and across the country to find ways to build bridges and ensure every part of our community feels safe.

I am deeply saddened and outraged by the attack in Manchester.

My thoughts are with Jewish communities, the victims and their loved ones devastated by this brutal act of violence on the holy day of Yom Kippur.

Hackney Greens deplore this attack and stand firmly against all forms of hate in our society. We must unite together in solidarity and reject any attempts to sow division and fear between communities.

Time & time again we are told things are improving in the Met, but clearly that’s a lie. The institutional racism, misogyny, homophobia and ableism exposed in the Casey Report haven’t disappeared, they’ve just been driven underground. This culture hasn’t changed. It’s been hidden

Firstly, I want to express my solidarity with anyone who’s experienced extreme force & any kind of discrimination at the hands of the police. The accounts we heard from serving officers were not only disturbing, but they revealed a culture of abuse that needs to be rooted out.

Intentional harm - use of force, misogyny, racism.

What has the Commissioner been doing to address it!? Institutional discrimination.

Needs complete overhaul & alternatives to policing, so much harm caused.
