We tried the Minneapolis 'Broad City' challenge, aka walking across the city from the top to the bottom that's trending on TikTok. I loved seeing 12 miles of the city on foot, despite the rain! Would you try it? @startribune.com www.startribune.com/how-to-walk-...
Walking Minneapolis, from top to bottom
We trekked (almost) the vertical length of the city, a novel way to experience the place you live. Just be sure to pack a rain jacket.

"Journalists have not only the right, but the responsibility to observe and report events in the public interest. It is not illegal to document a protest against the federal government. The fact that the protest took place in a church does not negate journalists’ First Amendment rights to report."
The Minnesota Society of Professional Journalists strongly condemns the wrongful arrests of journalists Georgia Fort and Don Lemon for reporting on a church protest in St. Paul.

Staff at a Twin Cities yarn store put together a pattern for a red knit “Melt the ICE” hat inspired by the Norwegian resistance.

They thought they would attract 10 people to a weekly knit-along.

They’ve sold 70,000 copies, raising more than $250k for immigrant aid groups.

The @startribune.com has done a ton of amazing and important work in recent weeks, but this story might be the best.

The Trump administration calls them the ‘worst of the worst.’ Here’s what we found.
The federal government has identified only a fraction of the immigrants it has detained. Many have violent criminal records, but few were wanted by police.

Should also say that the obvious reason observers are mostly white is many of my POC friends are staying home. The narrative of the occupation is largely about white people because POC folk are laying low, but are paying a much bigger price.
I was worried that the Star Tribune was doing an NYC style “in this small town diner, things are different” story here but it’s actually a pretty good, nuanced piece about what Willmar is going through. These kids sound like true badasses. www.startribune.com/this-west-ce...
