Remember:

- they DO NOT CARE about your arguments/rebuttals

- they DO NOT CARE about your dunks

- the person running the accounts was specifically hired to drive engagement BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY; it’s the algorithm they’re catering to

This is a game, and to them you are data to be manipulated.

Sorry to be corny but the aerial shots of these crowds are almost indescribably moving and hopeful
Wahhhh Frodo and Sam are off on their boat and that’s my Fellowship of the Ring reread finished. Boromir fucked up and I don’t wanna talk about it 🥲🥲🥲 onto The Two Towers next. I have a vague idea for the fic I want to write but no clue how I’m actually going to muster up the willpower to write it

Hello again ,coming back from my breakdown
Here I decided to draw edizzy with some of my insecurities, also trying a new paint way
#ofmd #ourflagmeansdeath#edizzy #izzyhands #edteach
because Boromir threatens to *hurt* Frodo, when he’s the one who prides himself so much on his strength being to protect people and to help the Company. And Bilbo of course is so upset about the title of burglar that it weighs on him even 60 years later—even though that’s literally what he is lol.
I love that every time someone tries to steal the Ring they lie about it. Bilbo’s convoluted tale and Boromir’s “I got angry.” the way the Ring picks people’s worst faults, the things they WOULD lie about or refuse to accept in themselves, to be the mechanism by which it convinces them to steal it.
it’s salty boromir hours 😭😭😭 poor guy but he really is being a bit of a jerk about it
he straight up says “goodbye, fair Arwen!” here and *takes Frodo’s hand and leaves* and the story is like “and he never came back here again” and I’m NOT supposed to think Aragorn isn’t in literal romantic love with Frodo at this point???
this is kitty cat behavior (yowling or leaping off perch when startled)

This!
Red states are not ALL red.
Those of us making them purple are dealing with the same garbage policies and shit attitudes.
And no, we don't always have the ability to "just move".
Take note of all these people turning out for protests in small towns in red states.

Remember them the next time you’re inclined to write an area off because “they voted for this.”
through the WHOLE story that he might not be making decisions with the full picture and he needed to listen to others. He speaks up because he questions things!!!!!!! THAT’S A GOOD TRAIT!!!!!!!!
and the thing is Boromir is still like “lead on!” because he still trusts Aragorn!!! I just. I love him. He knows he can be wrong so he trusts the Fellowship 😭😭😭 and it makes me so sad that Boromir is the one remembered as breaking apart the Fellowship when he actually had the most self-awareness
I feel like Boromir being like “I don’t know who to trust right now and people have said scary things” is relatable and sad. Like sure Aragorn is right all the time, so it’s like… Fine. But in the real world I like the guy who’s like “hang on I have differing sources and I need to sort through this”
Ahahaha there’s pics of us up on bsky lol (in the background of a pic of other, cooler protesters)
(Which is good because it’s not “staying at home doomscrolling and then yelling at anyone who suggests that perhaps working herself into a terrified panic re: the state of the world, is not helpful.”)
My mom is going to the protest with me and my dad today!!!!
chewing on this for a minute. I like the pov LOTR is written in. Though it would feel disorganized if I tried to write it, I don’t feel like I understand the rules. I like how sometimes you know what the characters are thinking, and sometimes you don’t. It would be Bad Writing™️ nowadays.
Actually that’s a thing that stresses me out about rereading LotR. Nothing I can say about this hasn’t already been said, so what’s even the point of liveblogging rereading it. But I like thinking about it anyway and it’s my bsky account so whatever 🤷‍♀️
I know it’s been said but man the way that the characters weep and talk about their emotions (as with Aragorn in his intro when he talks about how lonely he is because he’s scary) feels like… genuine in LotR in a way that other stories don’t always manage to do?
Okay so back to Aragorn and Boromir. The way that Aragorn is first in times of trouble and Boromir is racing to catch up to him and try to be his equal. But he’s not, and you know what! It just fucks me up that Boromir’s whole place is to be second-best to Aragorn. To fail, where Aragorn succeeds.
This section was really beautiful to hear, read aloud. Actually, the entire scene of Gandalf’s battle against the Balrog had me on the edge of my seat. Absolutely fucking incredible performance from Andy Serkis on the audiobook for the whole chapter. I was verklempt!!!!!!
OHH and missed connection: the person I was next to for a little while on the drive whose bumper sticker said “keep honking! I’m listening to the 1991 bbc radio production of lord of the rings” or something like that. I was one car over listening to the audiobooks. 🥲 (they looked really cool)
Anyway back to MY BOY. I love the childlike awe in this moment when Boromir can’t understand why Aragorn is holding this mythical thing.
