& this is without even touching on the wide range of academic warning signs that surveillance AI is being built on racially biased, class biased and privacy-invading training data & are being coded by people who are not equipped to combat these massive screaming issues

the UK is gonna turn into Tony Blair's wet dream. Mass surveillence, abuse of anti-terror laws, AI profiling to catch crime before they assume it'll happen.

No innocent before proven guilty.
No privacy.

Horrible that the bill passed, but the sliver lining is at-least my MP was 1 of 4 Scottish Labour MPs to have the soul to vote NO on second reading.

When i was single-digits years old under PM Brown, I was introduced to Labour as the people that gave our family the money they needed to get us *somewhere* at least.
Despite Iraq, despite the refusal to renationalise, it felt that Labour atleast cared.
Now they dont even bother pretending.

5 billion they, as the State, could get from anywhere else.
5 billion they, as the State, could decide is not worth sacrificing a single life for.

Only thing that could make this feeling worse is when the voting is done and by, is if I see my MPs name on the Yes tally. That'd kill any hope I have
