“Prosecuting people for migration is big business.”

Our top story: Over the past four years, the Texas Legislature has allocated more than $11 billion to fund the sprawling tentacles of the Operation Lone Star.

There is now a powerful, well-heeled constituency that has built up around Operation Lone Star.

So there happens to be a Supreme Court case that addresses whether and how federal funds can be used to indirectly regulate policy in the states. Among other things, the goal must be related to the original purpose of the funds and it cannot be unduly coercive.

Thanks for coming to my Ted talk

One month in, and things are bleak. But it does seem personal resistance matters.

MAGA voters didn't want tariffs and DOGE. They wanted "cat ladies" to give up and marry some MAGA douche.

Not giving them the satisfaction isn't just fun. It's strategic.

Stay strong, cat ladies! After Trump's first month, personal defiance matters more than ever

There are two people in Congress-the chairs of the Senate & House Appropriations Committees-who have enormous power over the illegal impoundment of funds appropriated by Congress, which is sowing chaos across the US. They need to be relentlessly contacted at their offices, in person and by phone. 1/

Between unprovoked and foolish trade wars, threatening our allies, eliminating foreign aid, gutting our civil service, preparing to weaken the intel community and FBI, placing inexperienced clowns in key nat sec positions, and supporting our enemies’s agenda, we are weaker by far today than on 1/19.

There appear to be at least three separately operating heel factions breaking things within the government in wholly different ways right now. There's the Miller-headed immigration one, the DOGE/Elon one, and a Project 2025 OMB one. This dynamic hasn't showed up in mainstream reporting at all.

The only reason Trumpism works is because it’s identity-based, not policy-based. It’s not about logic—it’s about belonging to a group that thrives on shared outrage.

Logic won’t fix it.

They believe in a world that doesn’t exist and see no problem in the fact that they can’t prove what they say.

I'm told TikTok's host (Oracle) and CDN (Akamai) brought it back online today because Trump assured them they'd not be subject to penalties - something he can't entirely promise.

Whatever one's feelings on the ban's merit, they're defying federal law based on a not-yet-president's word. Huge gamble
