So many - but always mountains. Glacier National Park for sure. Want to go back there soon. But also, the Tetons and Jackson Hole. Here's a photo from a 2018 ski trip. 7am on the road in.

It’d be funny (aka: awesome) if we could collectively all make “Becoming” the Michelle Obama documentary number one on Netflix the same weekend Melania tanks at the box office.

Yesterday was busy and so I neglected to post this. In 1993, 1 of my brothers gave me his bone marrow. He skis (as do other family & friends) & so I take his marrow skiing. Please consider getting on the bone marrow registry. You might be the miracle someone is waiting for. #BeTheMatch

Am a French historian looking for good articles/books that discuss the origins of the social bonds that we are seeing in action in #Minneapolis. Doesn't have to be abt #Minnesota. Social structures that generate strong communities.
Historians? Sociologists? Political scientists?

My daffodils are drooping a bit. Expect they are going to suffer w the ice storm that is expected this Sunday. Took a last look at them today. They have been blooming for about 2 weeks now. The earliest they have ever bloomed. #climatechange #atlanta

Getting back into the #histgym mode while dealing w some medical stuff. Slower & weaker than I would like, but excited to be in the gym again. Given the state of the world, this can also be called a #rageworkout, right?

Syllabus, syllabus, syllabus today for the World of Jane Austen. Adding more readings about Warren Hastings, political corruption, sex scandals, sexual assault, & the emoluments clause.
This post both is and is not about Britain and the US ca 1800. #18thc #skystorians #c18

The 2025 last Atlanta sunset from my front yard. May 2026 bring far better things to us than 2025 brought.

Miss those guys too. We used to get drinks afterwards at the Petit Berry, & some of them invited me to family dinners, July 14 picnics, over the years. Still in touch with one of them & his wife, the communist union organizer who often wore Harley t shirts, lol. Photo from a 2013 open house.

One afternoon, huge commotion behind the doors. One of guy raced out, followed by others. Fist fight broke out between them. The photo is of the old Soubise room being redone for exhibits. Door at the far end no longer shows any sign of what it once was. Miss that room & is delipidated chairs. 2/2

3rd wild story (sorry, can't reply to the OP). Also from the CARAN, ca 1980s, of the French National Archives. Researcher got up from the table (to go to restroom?). While he was away, a huge block of the cement ceiling crashed down on/near his table. Extremely lucky reader.

2nd wild story from the French National Archives, CARAN reading room, ca 1980s/1990s. A shriek from the far end of the room. A reader had found a large, dead, decomposing rat in her archival box. Of course, many of us rushed to see it, till the présidente de salle grabbed the box & shooed us away.

I miss the community that we had over on old twitter. I like BlueSky but miss some of the silliness (even in awful times) & the lengthier scholarly discussions. Photo from a recent research trip to Paris #frenchhistorianshoes
