Interesting… Cornelius à Tilburg, famous Pox doctor, became sworn surgeon to Charles II around 1680. Could his origin be here?
antecedentia.com
Entered the first batch of individuals into my genealogical database: 202 persons buried in the church in Tilburg 1660-1669. There's still a lot of work to be done, but the first patterns are starting to emerge. For example, from which neighborhoods people primarily came. #genealogy #earlymodern
The image shows the original, handwritten text "begraven in de kerck" which translates to "buried in the church".

I have not posted for a long time...it was time to read, analyse, and write up the past months' many discoveries.

This led me down a path I never imagined I would study: obscene libel laws...😬 but it is VERY interesting...

Very much this. The IHR really is open to everyone and this includes our common room and our library as well as our wonderful seminars. All free, all welcome!

History curious? You don't need to be in London (or the UK) to attend many Institute of Historical Research seminars, although if you're in Bloomsbury you'll enjoy doing so. Most are hybrid (online/in person). They're free, usually fortnightly and open to the public.

Starting this week:

My sister just found some family history...our great-great-grandfather or uncle...Francois Carl Adolf Hoffmann and his horse circus touring in Finland in 1872.

Explains a lot doesn't it...? 😂
