The Senate will be tough. No point in sugar coating that. We should still do everything we can to take it back, but it’s important to set realistic expectations.

At his current approval ratings, the House should be an electoral bloodbath. We obviously can’t get complacent, but I feel good about it.

I don’t think we’ve reached the point of no return yet, but I also don’t think you’re overreacting. We’re in a dangerous moment, and you’re right to be worried, but it’s not the first time we’ve been here. America is resilient. When norms are shattered, resistance builds. We’re seeing that right now

Elections aren’t run by the federal government. Trump has no way to cancel them.

He could try, but a handful of red states would be the only ones that complied. Blue states would tell him to get fucked.

I think the most important thing we can do right now is NOT participate in any civil wars in the Democratic Party - the stakes are too high for party infighting.

I view this a lot like I view AOC. The establishment was wary of her. She came in and crushed it, now they love her. 1/2

That’s probably the goal. Trump is looking for a way to deploy the Guard in other blue cities, but thankfully he doesn’t have blanket control over them like he does in DC.

In other cities, he would have to do something to incite mass protests or a riot before he could legally federalize the Guard.

The only thing we can ‘do’ to stop this is mass, sustained protests. I’m talking protests that are big enough to impact the economy.

Folks who aren’t on political social media don’t think it’s bad enough for that yet, though, and I honestly question whether we have the attention span for it at all.

The other thing we can (and should) do right now is start planning to vote as many Republicans out of office as humanly possible.

Every state and local election. Midterms, etc. They’re all must wins. Then we can start limiting the damage that’s being done.
