I also think a thing that people will need to (begrudgingly) get over is being afraid of messing with computer. Unfortunately, in its current state switching to Linux is going to require dedication and willingness to sacrifice a little convenience and/or ease of use for freedom from BS.

I feel like the biggest pain points really boil down to just "That one app" that you need to use that only works on Windows. I feel like there are already competent UIs on LInux that mimic the familiar Windows desktop metaphor (Particularly KDE Plasma).
