a poem by elias mullins reading as follows: one day you pick your child up and put them down, to never pick them up again but you put me down a long time ago i’m not sure you really ever picked me up so i’ve spent all this time trying to find someone to hold me i’ve sat so many nights with my arms wrapped tight around myself asking: what did i do wrong? was i too heavy? was i too loud? did i move too fast and you couldn’t catch me? but i know you won’t ever pick me back up
