Together with the Roers Lab from @uniheidelberg.bsky.social and @bms-us.bsky.social we propose that controlled low level systemic activation of #cGAS by endogenous nucleic acids is a safe and effective way to boost #cancer #immunotherapy.

The ER membrane bound DNAse TREX1 prevents your own DNA from becoming viral mimicry. TREX1 can also move around in the cell, but it was unclear how. With collaborators @tudresden.bsky.social we identified TREX1 as a substrate for the intramembrane protease SPP.
